3 CHAIRMAN Board of Investments Mr. Upul Jayasuriya (Attorney-at-law) He studied at Royal College Colombo. He joined the Bar in He joined the Attorney General's Department as a State Counsel on 2nd January On the same day there were several others who joined the Department. Among them were Hon. Justice Shirani Thilakawardena Rtd., Hon. Justice Nimal Gamini Amaratunga, Rtd, Hon. Justice Priyasath Dep and Hon. Justice Sathya Hettige Rtd., all present judges of the Supreme Court and Mr. Anil Silva (P.C.). Also in 1978 he served as the First Legal Advisor of the Greater Colombo Economic Commission, (Present Board of Investments of Sri Lanka) while serving the Attorney General's Department as a State Counsel. During his time first 70 agreements were executed when Mr. Upali Wijewardena the Founder Chairman of the BOI then known as the Greater Colombo Economic Commission. He was appointed Chairman of Sri Lanka State Trading Tractor Corporation in In 1983 he was awarded the Top Young Outstanding Professional Award by Jaycees Sri Lanka under the Entrepreneurship category for converting the Corporation into a profit-making venture. He was later appointed Chairman Ceylon Oils and Fats Corporation which again was turned in to a profit-making venture. He was appointed Managing Director/CEO of Ceylon Chocolates Ltd in 1997 and converted the same to a substantial profit centre. He held several company directorates and was also a member of the Board of Directors of Upali Investments Holdings Ltd. He founded Asian Finance Ltd., a company now engaged in financial business Elected as President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and continued in Office for 2 years. 4 CHAIRMAN Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau Dr. Rohantha Athukorala One of the most outstanding business personalities in Sri Lanka with key achievements in the private and public sector in Sri Lanka. In his fifteen year career with top global multinationals Unilever, Reckittbenckiser and Johnsons he twice won the Best Marketer award in Sri Lanka and then went on to win a Global award for brand building. There after he was head hunted by the United Nations where, twice he was awarded the merit performance award and then secured the Best Global Award for a lead project in Sri Lanka. In the public sector he was the 7th Chairman of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and serve the EDB board for a six year tenure where Sri Lanka export revenue grew from $5 to 11billion. The new government appointed Rohantha to build the global Sri Lanka Tourism brand and is today the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Bureau. Assistant Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Communications of Nestle Lanka PLC Over three decades of well-rounded experience at a world leading multinational food company. Currently providing a leadership to the country s premier state organization mandated to develop and promote exports of the country. Areas of expertise include External and Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Crisis & Issues Management, Corporate Security & Safety, Media and Public Relations, Regulatory Authority Engagement, Government Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sales Promotions and Sponsorships, Event Management etc. Also, engaged in an advisory capacity for several ministries and has been involved in organizing many events of global magnitude both at private and government level - such as the SAAF games, Olympic games (Sydney) and IIFA to name a few.
