Curriculum The program workload is composed of an integrated curriculum, as well as research and teaching related elements. Most of the program courses are taught in English. General doctoral studies include courses on history and philosophy of science, as well as language studies. Specialty core studies are aimed at the development of advanced conceptual and methodological skills. Examples of specialized compulsory theoretical and research related courses include: Econometrics Theory of industrial organization Qualitative methods of research Methods of research in economics and management Microeconomic analysis. Study abroad period in a top international business school from GSOM's global network of academic partners (i.e. HEC Paris, Aalto, ESADE, EBS, NOVA School of business and economics, Amsterdam Business Research Institute). GSOM provides financial aid in form of additional scholarship aid for 1 term of study abroad. The Doctoral dissertation requires original and solid academic research, grounded in existing theory and based on advanced methodology. Empirical studies are conducted by doctoral students in close collaboration with GSOM s well-established research centers: Center for Entrepreneurship Center for Strategic Marketing and Innovation PricewaterhouseCooper Center for Corporate Social Responsibility Deutsche Bahn and Russian Railways Center for International Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Admission Who can apply? Applicants are admitted to the program on a competitive basis. The program is aimed at the most motivated students, interested in research, analytics and teaching. Applicants are required to hold a Master or Specialist degree, achieve highly competitive entry exam results and should have a good working knowledge of English. Entry procedure 1st step: Initial contact with Program Director and potential scientific advisor. 2nd step: Submission of essay on prospective topic of doctoral thesis. 3rd step: Preliminary interview with program faculty and program director; feedback on suitability for the program. 4th step: Entry exams: Specialty exam in Economics & Management Philosophy English: TOEFL or the internal GSOM English test Information and application Applications for the program can be made during June-July. Entrance examinations take place during July. Tuition fees and scholarships Tuition fees in the 2013-2014 academic year were 440 000 Rub per year. GSOM provides doctoral students with unique financial support: Each student admitted to the program for a statesupported place gains monthly financial support equivalent to 30 000 rubles in total upon condition of good academic performance and meeting requirements of the program. Additional financial aid is provided for participation in study abroad period during the 2nd year of studies and for participation in international conferences, colloquia and seminars. From the third year of studies, doctoral students are entitled to work as assistants to professors or assistants in scientific research centers in GSOM. Expected enrollment Up to 6 state supported places for Russian Federation and CIS citizens, who have equal rights with the citizens of Russian Federation.
