Scripps Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program
The Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen. Reinhold Niebuhr 2 Scripps Health

Programs for Every Step of Recovery All Scripps recovery programs, from assessments to aftercare, are supervised and guided by a skilled multidisciplinary team of professionals who understand the recovery process. Our Programs Include: Intervention Program We offer support and assistance to families and loved ones of alcoholics or addicts who have not recognized their need for help. Free community intervention seminars provide information on how to begin the process of treatment. An intervention specialist is available to provide individual instruction and guidance. If requested, an actual intervention can be arranged. Assessments Our program offers free assessments to help evaluate which level of care may be most appropriate for a patient s chemical dependency treatment. It involves a session with a specially trained staff member who will address biopsychosocial history and treatment needs. Extended Day Detox Program and Outpatient Detox Program Scripps provides medically supervised detoxification services in an extended day setting with an emphasis on comfort while ensuring safe withdrawal from alcohol or drugs. Our program includes a medical examination, a chemical dependency assessment, psychosocial evaluation, introduction to 12-step recovery, education about chemical dependency and motivational counseling. The outpatient detox program is designed for patients who are medically stable and have a strong sober support system. Both of these programs are based on the 12-step recovery model, and the patient works with the treatment team to develop a plan for ongoing care. Group sessions focus on the application of recovery skills in everyday life. 4 Scripps Health
Day Treatment Program Available to adults who are medically stable and have completed a detoxification program at a Scripps location or elsewhere, our day treatment program provides maximum support and help in a day treatment setting. Participants learn tools and skills required to develop a lifestyle of recovery in a structured, supportive environment. Family Program A component of our Day Treatment Program, the innovative four-day, intensive family program brings families and supportive friends back together through education. This four-day program was designed by Claudia Black, PhD, and is considered vital in the successful recovery process. Continuing Care Program The aftercare program, available free to alumni of day treatment and adult intensive outpatient programs, reinforces the principles of sober living that are taught in all our programs. Groups are led by specially trained facilitators in recovery and address issues and circumstances that can jeopardize successful ongoing recovery. Program Costs We are committed to making our programs available to all who may benefit from them. Special arrangements can be made for payment plans. Many insurance plans provide coverage for these programs. Adult Intensive Outpatient Program Based on the same principles as our more intensive day treatment program, the outpatient intensive program is an alternative for those people who are able to maintain their daily responsibilities while participating in a treatment program. This 20-session evening program is held over seven weeks. Included are family sessions designed to educate and support the family and aftercare for up to one year. Scripps Health 5
