CTERA Cloud Onramp for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager December 2012 Version 3.2 2012, CTERA Networks. All rights reserved.

1 Introduction This document describes how to deploy CTERA Cloud Attached Storage appliance in an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) environment. Once deployed, data sent by TSM Storage Agents to the TSM Server will automatically be sent to a local CTERA cloud gateway appliance, and from there to the cloud. There are two ways to deploy the CTERA appliance in the TSM environment: Option A: Deploy the CTERA appliance as the primary storage pool Data sent by TSM Storage Agents is stored on the CTERA appliance, which acts as the main repository (primary storage pool) for TSM data. Option B: Deploy the CTERA appliance as a copy storage pool CTERA Cloud Onramp for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 2

Introduction 1 The TSM server itself acts as the main repository for TSM data, and the data is also backed up to the CTERA appliance (copy storage pool). CTERA Cloud Onramp for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 3

2 Requirements In order to deploy a CTERA appliance in a TSM environment, you will need the following: 1 machine with both the IBM TSM Server and Administration Center version 6 installed. The machine's operating system must be Windows 2003 or Windows 2008, and it must have 8GB of RAM or higher. 1 CTERA Cloud Attached storage appliance of any model with a DHCP-enabled network connection 1 or more TSM Storage Agents CTERA Cloud Onramp for IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 4
