An international center for micro and nanotechnologies, the MINATEC campus is unlike any other research facility in Europe. MINATEC s history officially began on January 18, 2002, with the signing of a framework agreement by the project partners: the French government; local governments representing the Rhône-Alpes region, the Isère department (MINATEC project owner), the Grenoble-Alpes- Métropole greater metro area, and the City of Grenoble; plus the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA); Grenoble INP; and state-owned bank La Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations.
Meeting room The meeting will take place in the "Maison MINATEC" building on the right hand side of the big round amphitheatre building. Transportation The most convenient way to come to Grenoble by plane is to land at Lyon Saint Exupéry airport (LYS). LYS has connections to most of the major cities in Europe and to airline hubs such as Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France hub), Frankfort (Lufthansa hub), Heathrow (BA hub), Amsterdam (KLM hub), etc. You can also consider taking the high speed train (TGV) if you come from downtown Paris. TGV has direct connexions to Grenoble from Paris Gare de Lyon. LYS is approximately 100km north of Grenoble. Airport shuttles will take you from the airport to the Grenoble coach station (Gare routière), which is located nearby the railway station. Single ride from LYS to Grenoble will cost around 22. Timetables are as follows:
You may rent a car at LYS, but we do not recommend this option due to parking issues in Grenoble. Taxi will cost around 167 to drive from LYS to Grenoble. Bus and tram are available to circulate in Grenoble (http://www.semitag.com/index.php?id=9). Accommodation Many hotels are available in Grenoble. Accommodation and other and tourist information can be found on webpage of the tourist information centre of Grenoble (http://www.grenoble-iseretourisme.com/english/default.asp). We recommend: The Novotel Grenoble Centre (http://www.novotel.com/gb/hotel-1624-novotel-grenoblecentre/index.shtml) which is a 3 star hotel located at the World Trade Center convention center (see Europole centre de congrès on the map above).
