ERISA is an extremely complex and lengthy piece of federal legislation. Our team has handled a variety of ERISA cases from those involving simple claims against a single defendant for wrongful denial of group health and pension benefits, to those involving numerous claims against multiple defendants for statutory violations of ERISA s COBRA notice provisions. Steven E. Holden Mr. Holden has achieved an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded in terms of skill, integrity and ethics. David L. Pacione Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Pacione graduated from the University of Maryland, with honors, in 1986 with a B.A. in Government and Politics and English. Prior to that, Mr. Pacione attended St. Mary s College of Md. where he played two years of college basketball. After graduating, he spent three years working for a large insurance company as a claims representative and consultant before moving to Texas in 1990 to serve as a vice president for a national third-party claims administrator. There, he managed catastrophic losses and other injury claims in the construction and transportation and maritime industries. While serving as Vice President, Mr. Pacione attended South Texas College of Law where he successfully participated in its prestigious moot court and mock trial advocacy programs. Aaron J. Goodman Mr. Goodman has successfully defended numerous jury and nonjury trials, as lead trial counsel in Oklahoma, involving civil litigation, since 1998. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1973, and grew up in California prior to moving to Tulsa to attend law school. Mr. Goodman, along with his civil work, serves as the Firm s lead criminal defense attorney and as such has handled some challenging cases. One noteworthy case involved a large therapy provider accused of fraudulent financial transactions. Mr. Goodman s aggressive case management resulted in the investigation being dropped without any charges filed, and without any plea deal made with the prosecution. His additional international studies included Latin American Law and Business in Buenos Aires, Argentina and International Business in Mexico City, Mexico. In addition to being the Firm s international expert, Mr. Manning is known for obtaining dismissals and summary judgments preventing cases from going to trial. His successful mediation skills have resulted in favorable decisions such as a recent case in which a doctor was wrongfully sued by the plaintiff for permanent injury. The case was settled far below value at mediation. Recently, Mr. Manning obtained a dismissal for a surgeon prior to a federal court settlement conference. In law school, at The University of Tulsa, Mr. Manning earned first place honors in oral argument which resulted in a spot on the International Environmental Law Moot Court traveling team. He also took second place in brief writing at the Stetson International Moot Court Competition.
