Ryan Law Firm, LLC 283 Columbine St. #157 Denver, CO (303) Kimberlie Ryan is in her 18 th year as an attorney and founded the Ryan Law Firm, LLC in 1998, where she practices civil rights employment law. She holds a Juris Doctorate, a Master s in Public Administration with an emphasis in Economic Development, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, an Employment Law Arbitration Certification from the American Arbitration Association, and a Mediation Certification from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. After founding the Ryan Law Firm, LLC, Kimberlie negotiated a landmark $1.3 million settlement for her ten clients who were oppressed by discriminatory English-Only policies and harassment including a mandate that if they had to speak Spanish they had to go into the janitor s closet. She fought a 6-year legal battle, suing an international casino corporation, along with the team she built with co-counsel, David Fine, the US EEOC, and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF). One client, who had become homeless as a result of her firing, was able to buy a home for her children after the case settled. At the same time, Kimberlie won a $3.2 million jury verdict in a federal sexual harassment lawsuit - one of the highest sexual harassment/retaliation jury verdicts in Colorado history in a non-class action case, co-counseled with Whitney Traylor. After an 8-year legal battle, including EEOC process, two trials, and potential cross-appeals of the trial verdict, she negotiated a settlement and brought relief for her clients, two extraordinary women who lost their jobs after reporting physical sexual harassment and retaliation by a general manager. Kimberlie has been a pioneer in the emerging field of medical marijuana employment representation. In addition to more traditional employment law cases, including all types of harassment and discrimination litigation, she also has spent the past several years representing individuals in medical marijuana employment cases and has advised companies regarding their marijuana policies. She recently was appointed to the TAX/FUNDING AND CIVIL LAW WORK GROUP for GOVERNOR HICKENLOOPER S AMENDMENT 64 IMPLEMENTATION TASK FORCE, tasked with advising the Governor and the Colorado Legislature regarding potential regulatory and statutory implementation actions for adult use of marijuana in Colorado in accordance with the Colorado Constitution. This work group specifically addressed employment law issues. She is a prolific writer and speaker and serves as a regular legal contributor to the Denver NBC television affiliate KUSA 9NEWS, among other media outlets. She taught employment law adjunct for the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law and has authored two comprehensive employment law books, EMPLOYMENT LAW GUIDEBOOK and EMPLOYMENT LAW: AN ESSENTIAL GUIDE FOR HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS, both published by Bradford Publishing.

Some of Holli s work with BakerHostetler includes: Drafting briefs for a case in which the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed judgment as a matter of law in favor of a national transportation industry client on a Section 1981 race discrimination claim, which negated a jury decision in favor of the plaintiff employee. Briefing an appeal in which the Colorado Court of Appeals overturned a trial court order denying a client s motion to compel arbitration. Co-chairing a bench trial in which the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado, granted mandatory injunctive relief in favor of a client who sought restoration of railroad crossing easement that had been removed by a railway company. Holli is a regular contributor to BakerHostetler s Employment Class Action Blog, offering commentary on recent class action decisions and trends affecting employers.
