3 FIRM HISTORY AND PRACTICE The Hernandez Law Firm was officially formed on November 2003 in Bryan, Texas. The Hernandez Law Firm is experienced in the full service representation of individuals, corporations, small businesses, municipalities, school districts and financial institutions, in their legal needs. Such services include the trial and appeal of civil matters in State and Federal court with familiarity and trial experience in the following counties, but not limited to: Lavaca County, Robertson, Burleson, Cameron, Nueces, Hidalgo, Travis, Starr, Webb, Brooks, Jim Wells, Bexar, Brazos, Willacy, Live Oak, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Duval, Reeves, Harris, Travis, and Dallas. BIOGRAPHY OF ATTORNEYS Daniel R. Hernandez was born in Bryan, Texas on November 4, He was admitted to the Texas Bar in Mr. Hernandez is admitted to practice before the; United States District Court, Southern District of Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University (B.S., 1973); He is fluent in Spanish. He has been a member of the Brazos County, State Bar of Texas; College of the State Bar Association. Mr. Hernandez has held leadership positions throughout his career that include Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Director for Texas A&M University System and Georgetown University. He has served as Human Resources Consultant to the Center for International Strategic Studies in Washington D.C. He joined Waltman & Crowley Law Firm focusing in personal injury litigation in In 1990 he became Assistant General Counsel and Chief of Litigation for Texas A&M University System where he represented the system in civil rights matters in federal and state courts across the state. In 2004 he was promoted to Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Community Development and in 2002 joined the Hernandez Law Firm, P.C. where he currently serves as Partner. Mr. Hernandez s legal background includes serving in roles as General Counsel for Mexican American Engineers and Science Organization and as an advisory board member of the Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution for the South Texas School of Law. He serves as a consultant and mediator for school districts, economic development, congressional offices, corporations and hospital districts. He has trained over 500 attorneys and professors in US and Mexico. Mr. Hernandez has traveled to over 12 countries representing private and government interests, and making presentations regarding Negotiation and Mediation issues. 4 Daniel M.L. Hernandez was born in Bryan, Texas on April 22, 1976 and was admitted to the Texas Bar in He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Northern, Southern, and Eastern Districts of Texas. Mr. Hernandez graduated from Texas A&M University (B.A., Business Management) and Syracuse University (M.A. Foreign Relations & J.D.). Mr. Hernandez completed a clerkship with the Honorable Hilda G. Tagle, Federal Judge for the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas. Mr. Hernandez later joined SBC Southwestern Bell, L.P. s Litigation Group in Dallas, Texas as in house counsel. His focus was 100% litigation, while serving as a third line manager with Southwestern Bell. In November of 2003, Mr. Hernandez was a founding shareholder of the Hernandez Law Firm. Throughout his legal career, he has represented various individuals and corporate clients in legal matters including: Civil Rights, Employment Law/Arbitrations, Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property, Tort Litigation, Collections and Construction Litigation, and Telecommunication Issues. Additionally, Mr. Hernandez has worked with several physicians and privately held home health care companies with regards to compliance issues and pre-lawsuit prevention measures. Mr. Hernandez has tried several arbitrations and jury trials in North, Central and South Texas: Federal and State Court. Mr. Hernandez donates his time as a volunteer and board member to a select group of community organizations, and is a strong advocate for state wide organizations including: Texas A&M University President s Advisory Council, Voices for Children, CASA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and the Chamber of Commerce. 5 Keith C. Livesay was born in Rockford, Illinois on December 20, 1959 and was admitted to the Texas Bar in Mr. Livesay is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for both the Fifth Circuit and Eleventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of Texas. He is Board Certified in Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, one of only a handful lawyers for the Rio Grande Valley to be so certified. Mr. Livesay has successfully argued before the Texas Supreme Court, the Texas First, Second, Fourth, Sixth, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth Courts of Appeals, as well as the Fifth Circuit. Mr. Livesay specializes in litigation, legal research, motion and appellate practice, and has done such work in a wide range of fields, including real estate litigation, debt collection, construction law, usery, personal injury, family law, and civil rights litigation. He graduated Sigma Iota Eplison from Michigan State University (B.B.A., 1981) and graduated first in his class from Baylor School of Law in Waco, Texas (J.D., 1985). While in law school, he was president of his legal fraternity, the recipient of the prestigious Clifton Cummings Scholarship, received numerous other awards, and is the author of three extensive law review articles. After graduation he completed a clerkship for Honorable John G. Hill of the Court of Appeals, Second Judicial District of Texas. In 1986, Mr. Livesay joined Ewers & Toothaker where he rose to be head of their Appellate Section. He later joined Barron, Orendain, Malanay & Flanagan where he was head of their appellate department as well. In 1993, Mr. Livesay opened his own practice and is Of Counsel to the Hernandez Law Firm. Since graduating from law school, Mr. Livesay has authored several articles on various procedural issues which have been published in the Texas Bar Journal. He also contributes his talent to the Hidalgo County Pro Bono Project. He has been a member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Bar Association and American Bar Association. Appeals: Federal and State. Parson was born on April 14, 1974 in Bossier City, Louisana, and was admitted to practice in Texas in He graduated Magna Cumme Laude from University of Texas at Dallas (B.A. 1997) and the University of Houston (J.D. 2003). He was admitted to the Texas Bar in Mr. Parson has represented various clients in criminal defense matters, contract matters and commercial litigation. However, Mr. Parson mainly focuses on commercial and collection litigation. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Parson was employed as a teacher with Galena Park Independent School District, where he taught English, French, and creative writing to at-risk students.
