SOLAR SYSTEM COMPONENTS By: Tayden

STARS AND OUR SUN A star is a fire hot ball with all kinds of gases. For example the sun is a star. The sun is the middle of our solar system and is what keeps all of our planets in orbit. Without the sun everyone on Earth wouldn t be alive. The sun is about 4.5 billon years old and has 1.989E30 kg size mass. The stars in the sky are very classified, for example: the sun is classified as a G2 star. That means that it 20% along the way to an orange main sequence star. Astronomers use roman numerals to define the size and brightness of the star. A constellation is a figure in the sky made out of stars. The big dipper is one the big dipper is famous for the stories that come with it.

INNER AND OUTER PLANETS Mercury is an inner planet and Jupiter is an outer planet. The diameter of Jupiter is 86, 881 miles. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system and it is very hot, the temperature on Jupiter is 234 degrease Fahrenheit. Jupiter is a gas planet aka: The Gas Giant. Jupiter is 483, 800, 000 miles from the sun. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Mercury has the thinnest atmosphere so its colder than normal. The temperature on Mercury is 800 degrease Fahrenheit. Mercury is 35, 980,000 miles from the sun. The diameter of Mercury is 3, 032 miles. It s the smallest planet in the solar system. Jupiter and Mercury are different in many ways. Jupiter s main atmosphere gas is hydrogen and helium and Mercury s main gases are oxygen and sodium. 1. Mercury's the smallest planet and Jupiter s the biggest planet. 2. Mercury is a rock planet and Jupiter is a gas planet. 3. Jupiter has an atmosphere and Mercury doesn t Mercury Facts 1. It s the smallest planet 2. It has a very thin atmosphere Jupiter Facts 1. Its nickname is the gas giant. 2. It s the biggest planet.

COMETS AND METEORS A meteor is a giant ball of rock and a comet is a giant ball of ice. The difference between a meteor, a meteorite, and a meteoroid is: 1. Meteoroid: A small piece of an asteroid that s orbiting the sun 2. Meteor: A Meteor is a Meteoroid that s kind of like a shooting star 3. Meteorite: A meteoroid that makes its way through a passage through Earth s atmosphere and lands on Earth surface. Halley s comet was a famous comet. Since its first return in 1759, it has come back to us three times. Once 1835, once in 1910, and once in 1985. Including its most recent visit, Halley s comet has been sighted on 30 occasions.

GRAVITY on Mercury on Venus on Moon on Mars on Jupiter on Saturn on Uranus on Neptune 21.1 pounds 50.7 pounds 9.2 pounds 21.1 pounds 132.3 pounds 59.5 pounds 49.7 pounds 63 pounds Gravity is the force that pulls something or someone to the ground. Your weight on other planets varies in a big way. On the top of the page there is a graph of my weight on different planets. In real life I weigh 56 pounds and on the graph you can see how much it varies. One thing I realized on the graph that I weigh the most on Jupiter and the least on The Moon. Gravity affects people in many ways. One way that gravity affects people is that some people think its fun to be in the air like on a tramp-a-lean and gravity makes it so that you can t stay in the air for that long. One other way is that some people like to play football and when you throw a football because of gravity it makes it harder to catch because its going faster than it would be without gravity.

TECHNOLOGY Technology can be goods and services. Technology today is more complex then you would ever imagine. With technology today you can search the web, call taxies to pick you up and take you wherever you want, and you can program a robot to teach you how to ride a bike if you wanted too! Technology benefits humans in a lot of ways. Technology helps people by being able to, search things on the internet, doing work, and taking pictures. One piece of technology is a computer. A computer is one piece of technology and it benefits people in these ways: you can search the web, program games, and play games. A phone is another piece of technology, and a phone benefits humans in these ways: you can search the web, buy games, and play games. Also many of the rockets use computers like to contact there location.
