TOSHIBA POS TERMINAL ST-B10 SERIES Quick Installation Manual This sheet contains only the quick Installation procedures. Please be sure to read the Owner s Manual in the web site for further information about this POS terminal. Important Information to the User In order to meet Product Safety and EMC legal Requirements, it is advised to socket the power cord, and interface cable in accordance with the following instructions Otherwise these devices need to meet following standards. Interface Cable You are advised to use a shielded (360 degrees) interface cable with this product. The shield must be connected to the frame or earth ground connection or earth ground reference at BOTH ends of the cable. If another cable is used than described above you will need to test this cable with the TOSHIBA TEC POS terminal and your system for FCC and CE mark certification. Power Cord For this product a UL listed, detachable power cord is required. When the power supply is mounted on the floor, a power cord with Type SJT marking is required. Outside the US, power cords need to meet the particular country s certification and application requirements. If a power cord is used different from described above you might violate safety certifications, which are in force in the country of use. Caution The socket-outlet needs to be installed near the equipment and must be easily accessible. Do not connect the LAN cable wired outside of a building to the LAN port provided on this product directly. The LAN port is intended for indoor connection. If the product is connected to the LAN cable wired outside of a building, be sure to use any communication equipment, such as a router, a hub, or a modem, which is located within the same building as the product is installed. Note The ST-B10 does not support the hot plug / hot unplug features of the Powered USB interface. In case of plugging or unplugging the Powered USB peripherals attached to the ST-B10, you are requested to power off the ST-B10. 1

(1) Power Switch This is the switch to turn the power of the POS terminal ON or OFF. The Power LED is illuminated when turning the power on. (2) Power LED (Blue) This is the LED to indicate the power ON/OFF status of the POS terminal. Blue LED is illuminated when turning the power ON. (3) HDD LED (Orange) This is the LED to indicate the HDD status of the POS terminal. Orange LED is illuminated during the access to the Hard Disk Drive. (4) Error LED (Orange) This is the LED to indicate the problem status of the POS terminal. Orange LED is illuminated when the machine s problem is happened. 3
2. CONNECTORS CAUTION! The drawer interface connector is exclusively for connecting the drawer. Do not connect a phone line or any other cables than the drawer cable to this connector. Doing so may cause a failure of the phone line and this POS terminal. Powered USB 12V PS/2 (Mouse) Powered USB 24V USB VGA COM 1 COM 3 LAN PS/2 (Keyboard) DRW1 Line-out (Option) AC Inlet LVDS (Option) COM 2 COM 4 Connector AC Inlet PS/2 (Mouse, Keyboard) Powered USB 24V (Red) Powered USB 12V (Green) General 5V USB LAN DRW1 VGA COM1, 2 COM3, 4 LVDS (Factory Option) Description A connector for the AC inlet Mini-DIN 6-pin female type connector Connector for the PS/2 type mouse, Connector for the PS/2 type keyboard Connector for the USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface USB V2.0/1.1 and UHCI (conforming to Universal Hub Controller Interface V2.0/1.1) NOTE: The powered USB sockets, which are 1 ports of 12V USB and 1 port of 24V USB. The lower part of these sockets can be used as general 5V USB connectors. The Powered USB ports are meant for connection to peripherals listed in the Options page or equivalent. The maximum load current for 12V Powered USB is 1.5 A. Modular type connector for the 10/100 Base T Ethernet LAN interfaces. A 24V type drawer is connectable. A 15-pin VGA connector Analog D-sub 9-pin male type connector (without power supply) A slot scanner, modem, serial Interface type scale, EFT, etc. are connectable. D-sub 9-pin female type connector (with +5V, +12V output) A line display unit or RS-232C type hand scanner is connectable. Expandable LCD 50-pin interface Digital COM5 for MSR in LVDS connector COM6 for Touch panel in LVDS connector Line-out (Factory Option) Used for connecting an external speaker via the stereo mini jack terminal 4
3. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 3.1 Environment for Installation CAUTION! When installing the POS terminal, take the following precautions. Failure to do this may cause fire, electric shock, or injury. 1. Avoid locations where it is subject to the following: Direct sunlight High temperature, high humidity Rapid change in temperature Excessive vibration Dust 2. Keep away from any devices that emit magnetism or electromagnetic wave. 3. Keep away from flame or moisture. 4. Be sure to place the POS terminal on a level and stable surface. 1. Place the POS terminal on a level surface. 2. Provide a space of minimum 20 mm to the right and 80 mm to the left, front and rear of the POS terminal for proper cooling. (The unit has air vents on the front, rear, right and a fan. Spaces should be provided to prevent the air vents in the main unit from being closed and the airflow from being obstructed.) 80mm 80mm Fan is provided on this side 80mm 20mm NOTE: Do not block the ventilation of the fan. 5
3.2 Connecting the AC Plug 1. Fully insert the Power Cord Plug into the AC Inlet. AC Inlet NOTE: The Power cord is not included in the carton.
