Business Broadband Kit Quick Installation Guide 4 5 Step 1: Connecting your wireless gateway 1 Connect the telephone cable into the gateway port marked DSL. 2 Connect the other end of the telephone cable into the socket of the ADSL filter marked ADSL. 3 Connect your phone into the socket of the filter marked phone. 4 Plug the ADSL filter into your phone jack point. 5 Plug the power adapter into the power outlet and the gateway socket marked power. Tip: Filters will be needed for every jackpoint in the office. This incudes fax machines and Sky Digital. Without filters your broadband connection might not be running at its optimal level. If you have more than five jackpoints, a PABX system or a monitored or medical alarm connected to the phone a technician will need to install a splitter. Call us on 0800 business (0800 2874 6377). (DHCP is enabled by default on the 2Wire gateway and this will conflict with your existing DHCP server.) Power Adapter
Business Broadband Kit Quick Installation Guide 6 7 Step 2: Connecting a computer to the gateway 1 Connect the yellow ethernet cable to the LOCAL ETHERNET port on the gateway. 2 Connect the other end of the yellow ethernet cable to the ethernet port on your computer. 3 If you have more than one computer repeat steps 1 and 2. Business Broadband Kit Quick Installation Guide 8 9 Step 3: Internet access 1 After a couple of minutes check on the gateway that the DSL and internet lights are solid green. If you still don t have solid green lights please call the Business Broadband helpdesk on 0800 BUSINESS (0800 2874 6377). 2 Turn your computer on. After your computer has booted up open an internet browser window. Your browser window should display the window you need to complete to set up Broadband. If this registration page doesn t automatically load, please type this address in your internet browser window http://selfservice.xtra.co.nz/olr/bbstart If you are using a static WAN IP, or port 25 unblocking (to run your own email server) please refer to the advanced settings section on page 12.
Business Broadband Kit Quick Installation Guide 10 11 Step 4: Setting up wireless internet access (optional) You will need a wireless network adaptor or wireless enabled computer to set up your wireless connection. 1 Before you begin ensure you have internet access by completing step 3 on page 8. 7 Close the home page, unplug the ethernet cable, open a new internet browser window and search for a website to check your connection is working. If you still don t have access call the Business Broadband helpdesk on 0800 BUSINESS (0800 2874 6377). 2 Type the following address into your internet browser window http://home a. Click on the wireless icon on the home page. You will be asked for a password, type in admin and click on the Submit button. b. Click on the Enable Wireless Interface box to change it to enabled as shown on the screen shot opposite. 3 To configure your wireless adapter to work with the gateway, you will need the network name (SSID) and encryption key (WPA) located on the wireless key-card which is included in your wireless gateway box. http:/home 4 Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to apply the new settings. 5 Refer to your computer manufacturer s instructions for details on how to install and configure your wireless adapter and drivers. Open your computer s windows network connection wizard (or network adapter configuration software). 6 Enter the network name (SSID) and encryption key (WPA) into your computer s windows network connection wizard (or network adapter configuration software).
Business Broadband Kit Quick Installation Guide 12 13 Advanced settings For configuring usernames, opt out port 25 or static IP addresses If you have a static IP or have requested a static IP from Telecom, you will need to enter your unique Telecom ADSL username and password into the gateway. 1 Type the following address into your internet browser window http://home 2 In the menu bar at the top of page click on Settings, then Broadband and then click on Link Configuration as shown on the screen shot opposite. 3 Scroll down to the section PPP authentication and settings. 4 Type in your ADSL username (for example yourusername.xadsl@xtra.co.nz), password and reconfirm your password. 5 Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on Save. The gateway will then reconnect to the Internet with your unique username and password, and if your Static IP has been setup, it will be assigned to your connection.
