Poland Along the Vistula Cycling Tour (2017) Guided 8 days/7 nights The Vistula (Polish Wisła) is the longest river in Poland (1047 km long). Biking along the Vistula River, you can visit the cities which have played a key role in Polish history. Discover: the University City, industrial, science and cultural center Krakow, the capital and the largest city in Poland Warsaw, Baranov Sand Obe Ski, Sandomierz and Kazimierz Dolny.
Itinerary Day to Day Day 1: Welcome to Krakow Individual arrival to Krakow. After the meeting with the representative, about 2 p.m., a guided tour of Krakow's Old Town awaits us. The city has a unique, medieval atmosphere and is present on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Most important landmarks include Wawel Castle the seat of Polish kings, the Wawel Cathedral and St. Mary's Church with a famous gothic altar carved by Veit Stoss. The guided tour will take about 3 hours. In the evening we have a dinner in a restaurant in the city. Accommodation in a hotel in Krakow. Day 2: Through the forest to the castle 30 km After breakfast we go by train/bus from Krakow and take a bike trip in the area nearby. On the road in Niepołomice we admire a gothic castle built by King Kazimierz the Great in the XIV century in the Vistula valley. Further we ride through Niepolomicki forest which offers many historical landmarks. We return to Krakow by train. Dinner and accommodation as on day one. Day 3: Baranów Sandomierski, a residence of nobility 120 km by bus, 57 km by bike After a bus transfer we ride towards Baranów Sandomierski. On the road we pass some villages. In the late afternoon we reach our hotel in Baranów. The castle, built from the XVI to XVII century consists of three wings and a large tower in front, accompanied by four smaller cylindrical towers in the angles. Its view is especially beautiful in the night, thanks to its illumination. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in the castle. Day 4: Sandomierz a true jewel 50 km After breakfast we tour the castle and then ride further along Vistula. Our bike trip to Sandomierz will take the whole day. Sandomierz lies on the Lesser Poland Altitude, a few kilometres from the spot where the river San joins the Vistula. Thanks to the combination of its landscape, architecture and art Sandomierz is almost as admirable as Krakow. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel. Pinterest.com Day 5: Sandomierz underground and on the Vistula 25 km We take a professional guided tour of the city (underground tunnels, gothic cathedral, about 3 hours long). Then we ride a bike and discover the area of Sandomierz. In the evening a ship cruise awaits us, during which we admire the beautiful landscape and the town's panorama. Dinner and accommodation as on day 4.
Day 6: Kazimierz Dolny unspoilt nature 60 km by bus, 35 km by bike After the bus transfer we begin our bike trip. Today we ride through the Kazimierz Dolny Landscape Park. The lack of heavy industry allows many animal and plant species to dwell in this unspoilt terrain. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Kazimierz Dolny. Day 7: Kazimierz Dolny a classic old town 35 km Today we are introduced to Kazimierz Dolny. In the old town we admire the renowned renaissance architecture. From the bastion, we take a look at the town's panorama, beautifully situated in the landscape. On this day is also scheduled the last bicycle trip around the city. In the evening we have a bonfire. Accommodation as on day 6. Day 8: End of the tour Right after breakfast we ride by bus to Warsaw (about 160 km), where we have a guided tour of the city. The tour ends in the Warszawa Centralna train station about 3 p.m. Individual departure.
