In England, Wales and Scotland there are eight official public holidays. In Northern Ireland they have ten holidays. They are called Bank holidays, because the banks are closed. Bank holidays in March: St. Patrick 17 March St. Patrick is a holiday in Ireland and in the island of Montserrat. It is mostly popular in the U.S., Canada and Australia but it is also a favourite day in Europe. St. Patrick s Day is celebrated with music, dancing and drinking dark beer. A typical symbol is a green leaf. During this day people eat green food, for example a green ice cream. They paint their faces too. In Switzerland they smoke marihuana because it is green as well. :D People celebrating St. Patrick s Day
