SAVILLS REGATTA 2016 at MYLOR YACHT CLUB Monday 13 th June 2016 NOTICE OF RACE 1 ORGANISING AUTHORITY The organising authority is Mylor Yacht Club, Mylor Churchtown, Falmouth, Cornwall TR11 5UA. Telephone: 01326 374391. 2 RULES 2.1 Racing will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2013-2016, Class Rules, RYA prescriptions, the Mylor YC Handicapping Policy, the ISAF Category 5 ( Special Regulations (2013-2014 Version)), this Notice of Race and the Savills Regatta 2016 Sailing Instructions. 2.2 Racing rules will be changed as follows: a) Rules 64.1(a) will be changed to provide for a lesser or greater penalty than disqualification. b) Rule 29.2 will be changed to reflect that recalled classes will be restarted after all other classes have started racing. c) Rule 35 will be changed to reflect time limit extensions. The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. d) Local rules shall apply to sailing inside moorings, shipping under pilotage, cardinal marks and dive boats. Full details will appear in the Sailing Instructions. e) IRC class rules parts A, B and C shall apply to IRC competitors with the following changes:- 1. IRC Rule 22.4.2 will be changed. The number of crew shall not exceed the number on the Certificate PLUS 2. 2. IRC Rule 8.6 will be changed. A Non Spinnaker TCC shall be valid for racing in the IRC Class(es). Provided that the entrant must declare their intention not to use their spinnaker on the entry form. 3 ADVERTISING Advertising will be permitted at the discretion of the organisers. Boats entered will be required to display a Savills Regatta burgee from the backstay or the shrouds.

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 4.1 The regatta is open to IRC rated yachts, MOCRA multihulls, Falmouth Sunbeams and Handicap yachts (which will be handicapped under the Falmouth Area Yardstick FAY). NOTE:- The intention not to use a spinnaker must be declared on the Entry form for both IRC and Handicap Yacht classes. 4.2 Entries are invited for the following classes, although classes sailed will be dependent upon sufficient entries being received. Classes and starting sequence will be confirmed in the Sailing Instructions. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 1000HRS MONDAY 13 TH JUNE 2016. 4.4 The organisers reserve the right to decline to accept any entry at its absolute discretion and without giving reasons. 5 FEES The entry fees: - 15 before 1st May. 25 between 1st May - 9th June. 50 between 10th June - 13th June Entry fees will be donated to charity, which will be announced in due course. Entry Fees can be collected via the ONLINE ENTRY.

6 SCHEDULE The warning signal will be at 1430 hrs Monday 13 June 2016. 7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available for download on the Mylor Yacht Club Website from 1 st June and will be available for collection from Mylor Yacht Club after 1000 hrs Monday 13 June 2016. 8 VENUE AND COURSES The course area will include the Carrick Roads south of Turnaware Bar and the northern part of Falmouth Bay, from Zone Point in the east to Gyllyngvase in the west. The courses to be sailed will be taken from the regatta course card; this will be with the sailing instructions. 9 SCORING The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply. 10 BERTHING Free pontoon berthing will be available at Mylor Yacht Harbour for competitors, for the duration of the prizegiving and reception after the regatta, by kind permission of Mylor Yacht Harbour Ltd (www.mylor.com). 11 PRIZES The prizegiving will take place at Mylor Yacht Club at 1830 hrs, 13 June 2016. Prizes will be based on handicap and will include top corporate entry, best dressed team and a line honours prize. 12 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 3,000,000 at all times and shall continue to do so while racing under this Notice of Race. 13 NOTICES The official notice board will be at Mylor Yacht Club. 14 RISK STATEMENT Competitors are reminded of Rule 4 in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013 2016. Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the events listed in this Notice of Race, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that: a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat whilst taking part in the event. b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore. c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions. d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate.

e) The provision by Mylor YC of a race management team, patrol boats and other officials and volunteers does not relieve them of their own responsibilities. f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances. g) For the offshore races, they are responsible for ensuring that their boat is equipped and seaworthy so as to be able to face extremes of weather; that there is a crew sufficient in number, experience and fitness to withstand such weather; and that the safety equipment is properly maintained, stowed and in date, and is familiar to the crew. 15 SAFETY EQUIPMENT 15.1 All competitors should carry the following equipment: anchor and cable, bilge pump, bucket and lanyard, personal buoyancy for each crew member, life belt or horseshoe type life float, oar and rowlock (if no engine is fitted), auxiliary engine, compass and chart of the area to be sailed, depth sounding equipment, a powerful torch with spare batteries, two red flares and two orange smoke flares, foghorn, VHF radio, mobile phone and any other additional equipment required by class / association rules. 15.2 Each of the items listed above should function properly and be suitable for its intended purpose. It shall be of the type, size, capacity and design adequate for its intended use, taking account of the type and size of boat on which it is carried. Consideration will be given to the declarations above when assessing a boat s handicap. Boats must race to these declarations; undeclared information or changes will invalidate the handicap. Declaration. I declare that I hold insurance at all times (including during racing) against third party claims in the sum of at least 3,000,000 and that I will continue to do so while racing in the Savills Regatta. I agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing and all other rules that govern the Savills Regatta. I have read the Notice of Race and confirm that I agree to be bound by its provisions and that my boat will conform to its requirements whenever racing in the Savills Regatta. Waiver. A boat is entirely responsible for her own safety and nothing whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else reduces this responsibility. It is for a boat to decide whether she is fit to sail in the conditions in which she will find herself. By going to sea the boat confirms that she is fit for those conditions and her crew competent to sail and compete in them. Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the races and the event, and include the Organising Authority, the race committee, the race officer and patrol boats. The provision of Patrol Boats does not relieve the boat of her responsibilities. Data Protection Act 1998.
