The Keyboard/Language (two letters) indicator that designates currently active keyboard layout appears on the task bar. ParaWin CE Keyboard Driver supports switching between up to four active keyboard layouts. You can use any combination of the keyboard layouts provided with the Windows CE 2.0 as well as additional layouts included in the ParaWin CE package. The selection of the specific hot key used for switching between different keyboard layouts can be performed at any time using the ParaWin CE Control Panel. 8 The ParaWin CE Icon is located in the Control Panel.

Chapter 2. Basic Operations Any one of the keyboard layouts may be used immediately upon installation of ParaWin CE. Current Keyboard Layout The two letters specifying the current language/layout selection are displayed in the indicator window. This window is located on the right side of the taskbar and is never overlapped by any other window. Switching between Keyboard Layouts Switching between the layouts is performed by using either the hot key or stylus provided by the Handheld PC manufacturer. From the keyboard: Press the hot key until the desired layout is selected. The hot key designation is performed in the Switch layout section of Keyboard layout manager invoked via the ParaWin CE Control Panel. With the stylus: Tap the language/layout indicator to switch between different active keyboard layouts. When the layouts are switched, the name of new current layout appears in the indicator window on the taskbar. The desired layout will be moved into the right pane showing all active layouts. To remove a layout from the list of active layouts, just highlight the name of the layout to be deactivated, and tap the Del button. Chapter 4. ParaWin CE Internet Transport Communication via email in Russian language requires sending and receiving text containing Cyrillic characters. The Cyrillic characters are usually encoded using either Windows (1251) or UNIX (KOI8R) standard code pages for character encoding. In order to assure proper character decoding and encoding, ParaWin CE software module adds the ParaWin CE Internet Transport service to the email client (Inbox) of your Windows CE 2.0 based H/PC. Setting Up ParaWin Internet Transport To set up various options for the ParaWin Internet Transport service : 1. Select Service tab in the Inbox menu bar or Services tab from the Compose/Options submenu 2. Tap the Properties... menu item or the Properties button in the Options dialog box.. The ParaWin CE Internet Transport dialog box appears. 12

ParaWin CE Internet Transport 3. Select any of the available methods for Cyrillic characters decoding. 4. Check Decode Subject as Russian for decoding the Subject field of the email message. 5. Select the character encoding option in the Send encoding section. 6. Tap the Finish button. If Manual decoding option is selected in the ParaWin Internet Transport service dialog box, then the Choose decoding scheme for message: dialog box appears. If the text contained in this box consists of non readable characters, then press the Decode from KOI8R button to convert it to the proper Russian characters, otherwise tap the Leave as is button to save this message. 13

Chapter 5. Technical Information Keyboard Layouts The following is an illustration of the keyboard layouts available in your system after the ParaWin CE software have been installed. Each layout is shown in several states. On many international keyboards it is possible to produce accented characters by using socalled "dead key" combinations. Such "dead key" combinations are defined for shifted as well as not shifted states. To type using the accented characters, you should first press the "dead key" shown below as shaded keys and designated for producing a specific diacritic mark, and then press one of the shaded keys containing the combination of this mark with the desired character. For example: To type  in French layout, you should press the key ^ (Dead Key) followed by the key A called a Completer Key. NOTE: PHYSICAL LOCATION OF KEYS MAY VARY FROM ONE COMPUTER MANUFACTURER TO ANOTHER, THEREFORE, FOLLOW THE SPECIFIC CHARACTER DEPICTED ON A KEY RATHER THAN ITS POSITION ON A KEYBOARD. THE VARIOUS KEYBOARD LAYOUTS ILLUSTRATED BELOW!ARE PROVIDED FOR YOUR REFERENCE ONLY. 14
