A Message From the Pastor My Brothers and Sisters, During the first quarter of this year, the Women s Division of Antioch has provided outstanding leadership with the planning and organizing of programs and activities that have helped to strengthen our understanding as individuals and as a Church Family. We have learned more about our biblical obligations and responsibilities as stewards of that which God has entrusted unto us. Under the direction of Sister Barbara Alexander, our Sisters took charge! They demonstrated how God uses teamwork to bring about spiritual change! The Division s day-long Transformational Conference held on Saturday, February 18, educated and empowered the Antioch Sisterhood with a clear understanding of their roles as Christian women within the family, within the community, and within the Church. A highlight of that conference was our own Dr. Brenda Edwards who motivated the sisters through her powerful testimony on redemption through the grace and mercy of God s forgiveness. On March 10, the Women s Division sponsored a heritage field trip to Birmingham, Alabama where the sisterhood toured the Civil Rights Museum. The group also visited the historic 16th Street Baptist Church where a racially motivated bombing killed four little black girls in 1963 during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. As pastor, I certainly appreciate and welcome the Christian Education and educational outreach that the Women s Division provides to heighten our congregational family s awareness and exposure to new and different learning opportunities. Our Church Family is blessed on this very special day to have as our Worship Speakers, two dedicated members from within our Church Family: Dr. Margaret Weaver at 7:45 AM and Sister Janetta Booker at 11:00 AM. Both ladies are proven role models for women of all ages and all backgrounds. Their servant leadership and Christian works have made a difference in the lives of so many people locally and nationally. Also this morning, the Women Division will pass the Torch of Leadership and Service to the Men s Division who will lead our congregation during the Second Quarter of Vision 2012 with an emphasis on EVANGELISM. I have every confidence that under the strong leadership of Deacon Calvin Booker, Deacon Milton Dodson, and Brother Darryl Speed, the Men s Division will build upon the remarkable success of the Women s Division and move us to a greater milestone in our spiritual growth and Christian service. Yours in God s Service, Reverend Cameron. M. Alexander
