Hotel You are responsible for making your room reservation. The IPPC Secretariat has reserved a block of room at the Hôtel Suisse under the name of IPPC/SELA, at the price of 200 Euros per night for a single room (incl. breakfast and taxes). Arrival to the hotel: By Train: The Hotel Suisse is situated on Place Cornavin, in the city centre, directly opposite the Geneva Central Station. For more information: www.cff.ch By Air: The hotel is 5 km Geneva Airport. The taxi drive to reach the Hotel from the Airport takes 25 minutes and cost approximately 40 CHF depending on traffic. The hotel can also be accessed by train from the airport. It takes 6 minutes from/to Geneva city centre by train. Trains leave every 12 minutes commencing about 5 AM until midnight. The airport railway station is located on the lowest floor of Terminal 1 and has direct access to airport check in and departures. All trains stop at Geneva Cornavin station (city centre). A free train ticket may be obtained from the ticket machine located at the baggage reclaim hall. You will need to provide a valid plane ticket if required by ticket inspection. 6. Public transit: Hotel s provide a "Geneva Transport Card" free of charge. Frequent and convenient, buses F and 28 go from the centre and stop at Susette. Taxi Prior to requesting a taxi from/to Geneva Airport, you may wish to check the availability of the DuPont Shuttle. Refer to section on DuPont Shuttle Service below. When taking a taxi to ICC, ask the driver for the DuPont de Nemours building, Chemin du Pavillon 2 in Grand Saconnex. Otherwise, the driver may mistakenly go to the International Centre Cointrin (also known as ICC). Car When driving from Geneva city centre, follow the signs to Ferney Voltaire (Route de Ferney), then turn left at Chemin du Pavillon. From the motorway, direction Geneva, take exit 'Gd Saconnex Ferney' and keep to the right. From the motorway, direction Lausanne, take exit 7 ('Gd Saconnex') and keep to the right. In both cases, follow the Route de Ferney (direction Geneva city centre) and turn right at Chemin du Pavillon. Parking at Visitors parking spaces are indicated on the right when turning right into Chemin du Pavillon. Staff members use the ICC section of the DuPont car park. A sticker available from Directorate must be placed behind the windscreen of the vehicle. The reserved car park spaces for ICC are available on a first come firstserved basis. DuPont Shuttle Services DuPont operates a Shuttle Service between the DuPont de Nemours building and the airport available from Monday to Friday: International Plant Protection Convention Page 3 of 5
Departure from Susette : 7.00 am, 7.20 am, and every 20 minutes from 7.45 to 9.45 am and from 4.05 to 6.25 pm. Departure from Airport : 7.05 am, 7.25 am, and every 20 minutes from 7.40 to 10.00 am and from 4.00 to 6.40 pm. Upon request between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm. Please contact the reception at DuPont to book the Shuttle. From ICC offices in DuPont, requests are to be made through the Reception Desk (dial 91 5900). From the airport, requests are to be made through the DuPont Reception desk (+41 22 717 59 00) or the Europcar Counter (Arrivals level) which will call DuPont and inform you of the shuttle arrival time. The pick up/drop off point for the DuPont Shuttle at the airport is in front of gate 1 at the Departures level. Please collect your visitor s pass at the reception. Access within the building requires escort. 8. Visa Requirements Consult the Swiss Consulate nearest you, or the Swiss Embassy in your country, to determine whether your visit requires a visa and to obtain any other information. Please be advised that Switzerland does not issue visas upon arrival. 9. Currency and banking The currency in Switzerland is the Swiss franc (CHF). Foreign currencies can be exchanged at any bank. 10. Electricity The electricity in Geneva is 220V and 50HZ. The standard outlet is two prong. Participants may bring an adaptor with them to the meeting for use with laptops, cell phone chargers, etc. 11. Emergency information In case of an emergency requiring an ambulance, fire brigades or police, call 112 free of charge from any landline or mobile phone. If you call 112 by mistake do not hang up.
