Open and flexible, the OHO i3000 series is future-proof and offers a comprehensive growth path for your business. The i3000 series of I-enabled BXs comprises five models that have been optimised to suit different sizes of business, offering between 20 and 65,000 extensions (analogue, digital, cordless and I). i3010: max. 96 ports i3030: max. 608 ports i3050: max. 1,216 ports i3070: max. 3,300 ports i3090: max. 10,000 ports The OHO i3000 series is the cornerstone of migration towards a converged network and the OHO communications framework of next-generation platforms and applications. The i3000 series has been fundamentally redesigned to evolve in line with developments in packet-switching technology. All systems are equipped with native Ethernet interfaces for TC/I protocol transmissions, as well as the transmission of voice packets (VoI). In addition, it is also possible to combine circuit- and packet-switched environments within a single, integrated network.
General architecture The OHO i3000 architecture provides a combination of I telephony and traditional solutions, resulting in a hybrid system that incorporates the best of both I packet switching and traditional TDM technology. With its roots in TDM, the OHO i3000 series has been updated into a series of I-enabled BXs. These support the broad range of critical voice features and functions with which users are familiar, but in a converged network environment. The new I call-processing software platform - Call@Net Release 3 - extends over the whole range of OHO i3000 series models and forms the basis of migration to a converged network. An In-ystem I Gateway (IG) incorporated within the OHO i3000 series provides an embedded H.323 I-switching module, which registers, interconnects and processes all I end-points on the network, including ErgoLine@Net I phones and the OHO ofthone. niform hardware architecture and a common software platform produce a scaleable I-enabled BX that can be tailored to meet the needs of different organisations, through customisation or the addition of applications and/or capacity. This uniform hardware platform is based on distributed architecture that divides the i3000 platform into four functional modules: Central processor Module (CM): responsible for overall system operation, storage of user data and providing central access to external applications. witching network Module (M): establishes 64 Kbits/s transmission paths between end-users, by means of a Operator I hone Digital hone Analog hone oftphone single-stage, non-blocking CM/TDM switching matrix. In-ystem H.323 I switching module: registers, interconnects and processes I H.323 end-points, including ErgoLine@Net I phones and the OHO ofthone. eripheral Module (M): houses the plug-in boards that interface with enduser devices. A M has access to up to 320 64 Kbits/s transmission paths and can accommodate up to 18 plug-in boards. Larger systems can be assembled by adding Ms as required (up to a maximum of 31). This distributed architecture relieves the central module of critical and time-consuming tasks, such as end-user equipment administration, and by separating the system into modules, improves its overall reliability. CENTRAL ROCEOR MODLE The i3000 series Central processor Module (CM) is built around Motorola s MC68000 family of 32-bit microprocessors. The different characteristics of the five OHO i3000 models, in terms of processing power, memory capacity, fault tolerance and the number of central access interfaces, are dependent upon two variants: ingle-card Central processor Module (C) for the i3010, i3030, i3050 and i3070; and Multi-card, fault-tolerant Central processor Module (CC) for the i3070 and i3090. A single, common operating system provides a uniform software platform for call processing, operational maintenance, system assurance and the various end-user applications included in the Call@Net system software. Fax Gateway Remote nit eripheral Module OHO i3000 witching & Control Module DECT hone Applications Maintenance IDN erver WAN LAN Freely configurable I/O ports enable the central connection of external applications, such as management systems, call logging devices, maintenance terminals, toll-ticketing printers, ACD supervisors or remote service/management centres. The initial system configuration and subsequent software upgrades on all i3000 models are performed by downloading the system software and user data from an Operational Maintenance C. ingle-card Central processor Module The Central processor Modules of the i3010, i3030 and i3050 share the same C card: the C3000. This central card contains a 32-Mb Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) module for the storage of dynamic data and the execution of software packages. A further 128Mb (expandable to 512Mb) of non-volatile Flash EROM memory (IMMs) is also included on the central card. This FEROM memory is used to store software packages and other data that need protection against power failures. As an extra option, an Accelerator Module (AM) can be added to the C3000 card to increase processing speed. The C3000 card has a 10baseT Ethernet connector for: CTI applications; signalling in I networks and to I phones; and for up- and downloading - via File Transfer rotocol (FT) - system files, such as Operational Maintenance execution Alarming, MyOffice@Net applications and call record information. The C card also contains a daughter board with six V.24 interfaces (five when the Ethernet interface is used) for the connection of external equipment. The single-c i3070 uses a different C card: the Central Control lice (CC). It has a 32-Mb RAM for the storage of dynamic data and supports a maximum of 2,000 ports. This single C card is used in fault-tolerant systems and makes it possible to upgrade to a fault-tolerant system in the future. With the CC card, a distributed architecture is used for system back up and I/O interfacing. These two functions are implemented in a Back-up and I/O Interfacing Module (BIM) that connects to the central control slices via the Communication Interface External card (CIE).
Fault-tolerant Central processor Module The i3070 and i3090 can be fitted with a fault-tolerant Central processor Module (CM) to ensure maximum system availability. Four identical Central Control lices (CC) operate in parallel, according to hilips patented (4/2) concept. The four processors synchronously execute the same instructions and these are continuously verified by an automatic error recovery algorithm. This algorithm is implemented in the hardware and ensures that a single- or double-bit fault, and even a fault that has affected an entire instruction, is detected and recovered without any loss of system continuity. This continuous process of hardware verification ensures that memory faults, processor faults or even the breakdown of an entire CC are ruled out instantaneously, without the need for complex diagnostic software. The four Central Control lices act as a single fault-tolerant Central rocessing nit, with up to 128 Mb (i3070) or 512 Mb (i3090) of RAM for system software operation and storing user-data. On-board DC/AC power-supply circuits reduce to an absolute minimum the number of cards that can cause a failure. In the fault-tolerant Central rocessor Module, the BIM is used for system back-up and I/O interfacing. BACK- AND I/O INTER- FACING MODLE FOR i3070/ i3090 (BIM) Both of these functions are embedded in a Back-up and I/O Interfacing Module (BIM), connected to the main processor via an Ethernet card (Communication Interface External). The BIM (on Chardware with W2000) contains a hard disk for system software and backing up user data. Furthermore, the BIM provides multiple I/O ports for central access to external applications. These ports can be configured separately to allow the connection of any combination of external applications. A typical configuration consists of six V.24-orts (max. 24) and a modem for remote service access. An overview of available HW models and their possible Central rocessor Module configurations is provided in the following table: ingle- Fault tolerant card CM CM Hardware- C 1 CC 4 CC model 3000 i3010 i3030 i3050 i3070 i3090 WITCHING NETWORK MODLE A non-blocking witching network Module (M) is included in all i3000 models. The M consists of a singlestage CM/TDM switching matrix and connects to the various eripheral Modules (M) using multiple 2Mbits/s links. The physical implementation of the M module is model dependent. Each M contains a local switching network that can be connected in a non-blocking arrangement to one other M. Models with multiple Ms are arranged in a non-blocking network using additional witching Network lices (N), each with a certain number of 1024 x 1024 time-slots (two on the i3070 and up to six on the i3090). The witching Network lices on fault-tolerant i3070 and i3090 models can be arranged in pairs, so that one slice backs up the other without any system interruption. This fall-back principle ensures that an N failure only increases the blocking probability but does not affect the overall operation of the system. I-WITCHING MODLE (IN- YTEM GATEWAY) The I-enabling functions for trunks and extensions are made available through In-ystem Gateways (IG), of which a maximum of 10 is available per system. The IG board is part of the Ienabling concept, allowing the establishment of media channels between an i3000 series system and I terminals, the I DECT server or the OHO I server. It also allows the establishment of system-to-system media-channels (I trunks). Each IG requires one slot/unit group and the IG board offers 10 I channels as standard. p to 30 channels per IG are possible and each IG offers a 10/100baseT Ethernet interface. The IG supports voice compression according to G.711 and G.729A, AB standards and has an on-board power supply. A maximum of 1,000 I extensions is possible per system. ERIHERAL MODLE The eripheral Module houses the plugin boards that provide the interface with end-user equipment. The number of positions in a shelf depends on the i3000 model. Each pair shares 32 time-slots on the switching network, via a dedicated 2Mbits/s backplane bus. A few special positions have access to a full 2Mbits/s group. Different types of plug-in board can be freely mixed across the available positions. A plug-in board can be inserted in a free position without disconnecting the power or restarting the system. Each M has its own AC/DC ower- upply nit () to reduce the risk of common failure to an absolute minimum. A eripheral Module Controller (MC) controls the plug-in boards time-critical functions and provides traditional telephony resources, such as: local switching networks 32-tone senders four-dial-tone receivers six-key-tone receivers 32 three-party conference circuits integrated operator console interface The MC s software is stored in FEROM and is downloaded from the CM. This conceals the central call processing software used for different signalling protocols and makes adjustments for national variations in transmission plans. REMOTE ERIHERAL MODLE (RM) To save on wiring in premises, or to bridge longer distances, peripheral modules can be physically located more than 100 km from the central cabinet, where they act as remote concentrators. They are connected via between one and four standard 2 Mbits/s links and the RM option is supported by all models, apart from the i3010. LG-IN BOARD A wide variety of plug-in boards is available to interface an i3000 system with all major types of analogue, digital or I extensions, along with business phones, I phones, public trunks, private tielines, I trunks, cordless handsets, integrated announcers, paging equipment, operator consoles, voice processing systems, front-end office equipment and conference units. Each plug-in board has been carefully designed to support a maximum num-
ber of circuits (between four and 32, depending on the interface type and the complexity of the wiring scheme). Multifunctional plug-in boards are provided to facilitate and optimise system configuration. This applies in particular to the 2B+D IDN card, which can be set in different modes: extension, trunk or tie line. The In-ystem I Gateway card controls the I interfacing for simultaneous I extension, I trunk or I DECT use. Housing The i3000 series light-grey cabinets have been designed to reduce installation time and to minimise the required footprint. Different cabinet versions are available to house the different system types, optional Main Distribution Frames (MDF), Remote eripheral Modules (RMs) and 19-inch cabinets. All cabinets have a detachable front cover, allowing direct access to all printed circuit boards. The environment in which the cabinets are installed should adhere to the ET 300012 class 3.2 standard, which applies to partly temperature-controlled locations. This means that heating, cooling, forced ventilation and humidification of the equipment room are not mandatory. YTEM CABINET A standard floor-standing cabinet houses the largest of the i3000 series models. This cabinet is equipped with four swivel wheels for easy on-site transportation and has height-adjustable feet. Each cabinet can accommodate four M shelves and can be coupled back-to-back or side-by side to build larger configurations. The i3010 and i3030 cabinets can be wall mounted or free standing on an optional floor stand. Both cabinets house one M, which has an optimised layout and size. MDF CABINET An optional MDF cabinet can be delivered for all i3000 models and RM versions, in cases where an external MDF is not available.
