Geo-Fence Creation Creating Geo-Fences A geo-fence is a virtual perimeter for geographic areas. Geo-fencing is a critical element to telematics. It allows users of the system to draw zones around places of work, customer sites, and any other desired areas. These geo-fences, when crossed by an equipped vehicle, trigger an alert delivered via email or SMS message. A geo-fence can be dynamically generated as in a radius around an area or point location. Custom creation of geo-fences allows for real time and historic monitoring of asset movement entering and/or exiting the chosen perimeter area. Step 1: Starting a Geo-Fence From the map view, right click anywhere on the map. Select "Geofence Control" from the opened window. FleetLynx Operation Guide - r01 18
Step 2: Selection of Geo-Fence Type Plygonal or circular geo-fences can be created. For the purpose of this guide, click on the button for the circular geo-fence. Step 3: Selection of Geo-Fence Name and Fleet After you click on the geo-fence shape, an adjustable ego-fence will appear on the map and another window opens. Select a name for your geo-fence and choose a fleet to associate the geo-fence with if you have multiple fleets set up (If you only have one fleet, it will default to your fleet) FleetLynx Operation Guide - r01 19
Step 4: Adjusting Geo-Fence Size and Location Two small boxes appear on the adjustable geo-fence on the map. Place your curser over the small box at the center of the geo-fence then right-click and hold to move it around. Place your curser over the small box on the side of the geo-fence then right-click and hold to grow or shrink the geo-fence. Click on the Create bottun to creat the geo-fence. Creating Geo-Fence Alerts After setting the geo-fence, it s time to set geo-fence alerts. Geo-fence alerts would send you an email alert when selected vehicles enter or exit a specific geo-fence. Emails sent for all alerts are date, time, and location stamped with vehicle information. Step 1: My Alerts Click on your ID on the top right corner of the FleetLynx portal map view.
