3 Getting Started When your user account is setup, an Account Confirmation will be sent to you. The , similar to the sample below, will contain the username and temporary password required to login to the K-Nect web portal. By following the link in the , your account will be confirmed and you will be walked through changing your password. Hello Your Name A user has been created for you for the Knect Application. To confirm and set your password, click on the link below. Click here to confirm Username: YourName@xxx.com Temporary Password: xyz If the link does work, copy the url below: Thank you! Note: The temporary password will expire within 24 hours of issuance. Therefore, it is important to set a permanent password shortly after receiving the . Logging In Once your account has been confirmed and your password updated, you may log into K-Nect as needed by using any web browser. Navigate to the URL O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 2
4 Enter the username and password you confirmed after receiving your invitation. Upon successful validation, you will be taken to the CORE K-Nect Dashboard. Your Account Settings My Profile The profile drop-down supplies the options of changing your password or viewing your profile. Within the profile you can edit your specific user information or update the type of alert notifications you will receive. To make changes to your user information, select the User Info tab and modify the desired field within the edit screen. When complete, click the Save button. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 3
5 To update the type of notifications you will receive, select the Notifications tab and modify the desired options. Check the Receive Notifications box to receive alerts. Then select the type of alerts you would like to receive, application, hardware or kiosk alerts. Note: All users will receive alerts for system maintenance. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 4
6 Change Password To change your password, select the change password option. You will be taken to the Change Password screen and your current and new password will be requested. When finished, click the Change Password button to confirm your changes. CORE K-Nect Functions The left navigation bar will allow you to move to the CORE K-Nect functions of Dashboard, My Customer, Applications, Kiosks, Users, and Reports. A section of this User s Guide is dedicated to each of these functions to provide detailed information and functionality descriptions. Dashboard The Dashboard is the snapshot of the current state of your kiosks, the applications being monitored on your kiosks, and the hardware components on your kiosks. My Customer The My Customer function displays information about your customer account on CORE K-Nect. You can use it to find your sales executive and their contact information as well as how many licenses your organization has purchased and how many of those are in use. Applications The Applications function aids you in adding applications that you wish to be monitored on your kiosks. By monitoring a specific application, alerts can be sent should the application stop functioning. Kiosks The Kiosks section allows you to see all the kiosks that are currently registered for your organization plus their pertinent information. You may add additional kiosks and edit existing ones as needed. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 5
7 Users The Users sections allows the customer administrator to add new users to their account as well as modify existing users. Reports The Reports section allows you to be able to run all available reports for online review or export. Kiosk Dashboard After logging into CORE K-Nect, the K-Nect Dashboard will display. The Dashboard is the snapshot of the current state of the kiosks, the applications being monitored on the kiosks, and the hardware components on the kiosks. Kiosk Summary - this area provides a visual count of the total number of kiosks registered and how many of those are online and offline Kiosk Status Grid this area provides a listing of each kiosk by name with a visual representation of the kiosk, applications, or hardware status. Red Indicator identifies that the kiosk itself, an application being monitored on the kiosk, or a hardware component within the kiosk is not functioning normally or is completely offline Green Indicator identified that the kiosk itself, an application being monitored on the kiosk, or a hardware component within the kiosk is functioning normally O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 6
8 No Indicator if no red or green indicator is displayed, there are no applications or hardware components currently being monitored on that kiosk Navigation Arrows At the bottom of the Kiosk Status Grid, there are arrows that allow you to navigate to additional pages of kiosks should you have more kiosks than will fit in a single window. Refresh Option In the lower right corner of the screen is a refresh icon that will provide a real-time refresh of the Kiosk Summary Grid. Monitoring Applications The Applications function aids you in adding applications that you wish to be monitored on your kiosks. By monitoring a specific application, alerts can be sent should the application stop functioning. The initial Application window will show all applications currently configured for your organization within the grid. The grid outlines the name you assigned the application and the executable path of that application. Should you have more applications configured than will fit on one screen, the navigation arrows at the bottom of the screen will help you move to the next page(s). At this time, you may only add new applications. Existing applications may not be deleted or edited. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 7
9 Adding a New Application To add a new application to monitor and receive alerts should it go down, click the Add Application button. Enter a Name for the application. Enter the full executable path with the filename and extension. For example: c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe Click the Save button. Kiosks This section allows you to see all the kiosks that are currently registered for your organization plus all their pertinent information. You may add additional kiosks and edit existing ones, as needed. The initial Kiosks window will show all kiosks currently configured for your organization within the grid. The grid outlines the name assigned to the kiosk, a description, the status, serial number, physical address, and if it has a K-Nect license applied. It will also allow you to view more detailed information on each individual kiosk. Should you have more kiosks configured than will fit on one screen, the navigation arrows at the bottom of the screen will help you move to the next page(s). The Refresh icon in the lower right corner may be used if you wish to see the most up-to-date information on your kiosks. This will refresh the grid, all details, and all kiosk statuses. 10 Add Kiosk To add a new kiosk to CORE K-Nect, click the Add Kiosk button. You will be provided a series of text boxes to input the pertinent kiosk information. Once complete, click the Save button. If you wish to cancel at any point, click the Cancel button and no information will be saved. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 9
11 Customer This field will default to you organization name. Name Use this field to provide a name for the kiosk that would be descriptive to you and your staff should they get an alert regarding it. Description This field can be used to provide more details about this kiosk, its physical location within a building, etc. Serial Number Used for the serial number of the kiosk. This will be handy for maintenance/support calls. Address Identifies the physical address of the kiosk. City Identifies the city in which the kiosk resides. State Identifies the state in which the kiosk resides. Postal Code identifies the zip code of the kiosk. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 10
12 Licensed By checking this box, a CORE K-Nect license will be applied to this kiosk enabling all alerting, monitoring, and reporting functionality. View Kiosk Details To view further details on a specific kiosk and/or edit the details, click the View link within the Kiosks grid. You will be presented with the following screen: You may use the Edit option in the upper portion of the screen to make any needed changes to the kiosk details. You may use the tabs at the bottom of the screen to see more details on applications and hardware being monitored, any alerts that have been sent, and an overall online/offline status history of the kiosk. 13 Edit Kiosk Details By clicking the Edit link, you will be taken to the following screen which will allow you to edit the detailed information about this particular kiosk. Once all edits are complete, click the Save button. If you wish to cancel at any point, click the Cancel button and no changes will be saved. Postal Code identifies the zip code of the kiosk. Application Monitoring & Status The Applications tab grid allows you to see the status of the applications currently being monitored on the kiosk, their memory usage, and the amount of time the application has been up and running. You can also view the history of a specific application with dates and times it goes up and down plus assign additional applications for monitoring. View History The View History button allows you to look at a specific application running on the kiosk to see the actual dates and times an application goes down and when it is restarted. 15 Assign Applications The Assign Applications button allows you to choose which applications to have monitored on a specific kiosk. Tick the check box for any application to be monitored and then click the Assign Selected button. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 14
16 Hardware Monitoring & Status The Hardware tab grid allows you to see the status of the hardware components currently being monitored on the kiosk, their model number, serial number, any messages (i.e. out of paper) and the last date/time of change. You can also view the history of each hardware component with dates and times it goes up and down and when available, any message associated to the state change. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 15
17 The refresh icon at the bottom of the screen will allow you to refresh the output on demand. The navigation arrows will allow you to move back and forward through hardware components. View History The View History button allows you to look at a specific hardware component running on the kiosk to see the actual dates and times it goes down and when it is restarted plus if available, any messages associated with the state change. Alert History The Alerts Tab allows you to see the date and time of all alerts, the type of alert, and any message associated with the alert. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 16

Status History The Status History Tab allows you to see the date and time of each state change of the kiosk. A state change indicates that the kiosk has gone offline or back online. The refresh icon at the bottom of the screen will allow you to refresh the output on demand. The navigation arrows will allow you to move back and forward through the history. 19 Reports The Reports section allows you to be able to run all available reports for online review or export. Go to the Report section and select the available reports from the drop down. CORE K-Nect will automatically run the report and preset it on the screen when it is completed. Available Reports The following report is currently available through CORE K-Nect: Kiosk Status Report The kiosk status report provides a snapshot of every kiosk licensed with CORE K-Nect. For each kiosk, a percentage of online/offline plus the number of days/hours online/offline. A history of each time the kiosk status changes is also available. The default run is for the current month. However, you can select a specific date range. O c t o b e r 1 5, Page 18
