Nevada Solar One Location: Boulder City, Nevada Technology: Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Collaborators: Solargenix Energy, Nevada Power Company and Sierra Pacific Resources Construction completed: June 2007 Size: 400 acres, 64 MW Projected CO2 emissions avoided: Equivalent to taking approximately 20,000 cars off the road annually. ACCIONA s Nevada Solar One harnesses solar energy to power more than 14,000 homes every year. It is the third-largest concentrating solar power plant in the world and the first such plant built in 17 years. Nevada Solar One represents a major renewable-energy success story and has the potential to compete directly with conventional fossil fuel-powered technologies. The leveraged lease structure was financed by debt participants Banco Santander and BBVA, headquartered in Spain, and CAIXA Geral de Depositos, headquartered in Portugal, and equity investors JPMorgan Capital Corporation, Northern Trust and Wells Fargo. 24
