5 A selection of successful projects Forchheim, Germany Excellent plant performance After a planning and construction time of less than three months, the project in Forchheim went into service. With the solar modules providing an electrical efficiency of over 18 percent, the customer reports that the unit has been extremely reliable and profitable. Project scope rating of 800 kwp (one-third greater output than many solar plants of comparable size) turnkey scope, consisting of power inverters, switchgear, transformers, and connection to the local power grid 3,600 monocrystalline solar modules with a rating of 225 Wp each generated more than 750 MWh per year commercial operation began in December 2008 Rende, Italy High efficiency with limited space Due to specific space regulations, the challenge for this project in Rende, Italy, was to integrate a 1-MWp photovoltaic system on less than 10,000 m 2 of ground area. A large construction was designed and built right next to an existing biomass installation. The High Vela acts as a large facade and has a highly efficient ratio of panels to space. Furthermore, the installed rows of solar panels are situated closer to one another than in standard plant constructions, decreasing the tilt angle but utilizing space with maximum efficiency. Project scope rating of 1 MWp turnkey scope, consisting of solar panels, power inverters, switchgear, transformers and custom galvanized steel support structures service and maintenance generates up to approximately 1,400 MWh per year, providing up to 350 households with solar power commercial operation began in 2007 Beneixama, Spain Flexible solutions tailored to the environment and market conditions Due to the differentiated feed-in tariff (FIT) structure in Spain, the challenge of the Beneixama project was to help the customer enhance the profitability of the PV plant. Siemens designed and implemented the entire plant subsystems to adjust it to the feed-in tariff structure. As a result, the plant has reported a higher profitability than some other plants in its MW range. Despite adverse conditions, the plant was constructed within 12 months.
