Basements and cellars Rooms beneath the ground can be difficult to treat as moisture can travel through the ground. Basements and cellars can have a tanking treatment to reduce this occurrence, however this can cause condensation to form on the inside of the room. The GypLyner IWL (Independent Wall Lining) system builds away from existing walls, fixing to floors, ceilings and adjacent walls to support the framework to reduce the contact with any tanking. Gyproc ThermaLine PLUS has a high level of thermal insulation as well as a vapour control barrier to reduce condensation forming behind the lining. Seek advice Some tanking methods will be downgraded if there is any penetration in the tanking seal. BS5250:2002 contains some limited guidance.
