MESSENGER: NETWORK VIEW Inofile Messenger is a powerful, easily implemented and highly scalable software platform that utilizes HL7 messaging for indexing and structuring previously unstructured critical content. The structured content is then output to the patient s chart in the EMR and/or document management system where it can be accessed nearly anywhere within the patient s healthcare provider network. Inofile Messenger is vendor agnostic and will eliminate expensive interface costs traditionally created to link one system to another. By using secure web services, Inofile Messenger provides integration options for various unstructured content creators and devices such as fax servers, scanning software, multi-function devices (copiers) and medical devices. Inofile Messenger then generates structured clinical content including HL7 messages and XML documents and PDF s for integration into non-clinical applications such as document management systems or advanced scanning solutions. DISTRIBUTED SCANNING, MADE SIMPLE. One working example of a Connector built using Messenger s Web Services is an app for Fujitsu network scanners. This app allows point of service capture or what is called distributed scanning on the touch screen of the network scanner to capture paper documents immediately so the information is available to all care providers. Distributed scanning at the point of service will improve patient care and especially when transitions of care occur, when real time access to the latest patient information is essential to patient outcomes. Distributed scanning will also ensure the EMR is not marginalized in its use and effectiveness due to paper documents and information that is not available immediately. The intuitive predictive scanning process only requires a couple of touches on the screen to scan a document into the patient s chart or directly to HIM for indexing. Thanks to the data collected from the Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) messages, Messenger provides information about a patient s location allowing the distributed scanning app to display only the patients in proximity at the time of scanning. Now a unit clerk can quickly select the correct patient from the list of patients in proximity and scan the document. Very simple and easy to use. 04
