5 DataCaptor Connectivity Software DataCaptor Connectivity software is the core software component of Capsule s Enterprise Device Connectivity Solution. It manages the communication between the medical devices and the destination Clinical Information System(s). It is the most proven, reliable software available for device integration. There are two types of DataCaptor Connectivity Software that are designed to meet the varying acuity needs of the hospital DataCaptor Continuous Connectivity Software and DataCaptor Periodic Connectivity Software. DataCaptor Continuous Connectivity Software enables the automatic collection of data continuously from multiple devices for a single patient in higher acuity environments such as the ICU. This automatic collection of all vitals and device data, from all connected devices, allows clinicians in these environments to focus on patient care with the confidence of knowing that no data will be lost and that all values will be completely accurate and readily available when they have time to chart. DataCaptor Periodic Connectivity Sofware enables the automatic collection of vital signs from a single device, such as a spot check monitor, as well as the validation and submission of those vitals to the patient s record right from the point of care. It is ideal for environments such as med surg where charting is less frequent but where there are multiple patients. And it ensures that vital signs are delivered to the patients chart in near real time for rapid decision making. It is the first, intelligent touch screen platform dedicated to managing device connectivity at the bedside. It features a touch-enabled display and is the only platform in its class that is completely flexible and scalable. Flexibility and scalability are achieved through the variety of options available to a hospital for configuration based upon their clinical and organizational needs. 6 Capsule Neuron s Status Application for Higher Acuity Environments Status Application - Enables continuous vitals collection from multiple medical devices - Allows the clinician to spend more time on direct patient care - Provides universal view of connectivity status at the bedside - Features data caching for enhanced data protection - Delivers wired or wireless networking options In higher acuity environments, such as the intensive care or the operating room, continuous monitoring is often required. When deployed in these environments the Capsule Neuron is typically mounted on the wall and assigned to one patient for continuous collection of vitals from multiple devices. In these environments, the touch enabled bedside display provides clinicians at the bedside with a universal view of connectivity status for all medical devices connected to a patient, including devices that are connected locally to the Capsule Neuron and devices that are networked via the hospitals wired or wireless LAN. This visual display provides clinicians with continuous assurance that vital signs are automatically being sent from devices directly to the information system so they can focus on patient care. Mobile Vitals Plus enables positive patient identification and the automatic collection, validation and submission of vital signs to the EMR right from the point of care. The design of Mobile Vitals Plus fits within the established clinical workflow and allows clinicians to collect and submit vitals for multiple patients to the EMR faster and easier than ever before. The touch enabled bedside display features intuitive, step by step instructions to guide the clinician.
