Sales record for TESS Sales in TESS for 2014 amounted to NOK 2,80 billion, representing the largest sales volume to date in TESS. Pre-tax profit ended up at NOK 132 million. Book equity was strengthened by 16,3 per cent during 2014 compared to the previous year. The owners are reinvesting the majority of the profits in the business, in Norway and abroad. In this way TESS can remain independent of banks and other financial institutions. Tess is therefore a rock solid wholly Norwegian service company preparing for expansion. Continued growth is grounded in the company's vision and the objective of achieving a sales turnover of NOK 10 billion by 2020. TESS, in strong competition from the market, has won major supply contracts with several of the biggest potential customers in Norway. More than 110 TESS sites TESS opened for new business at six new sites during 2014 and 1 st half of 2015. Two of these are in the form of Partnershop, collaborating with major customers. The new openings includes TESS Rio in Brazil, TESS Singapore and TESS Fredrikshavn. During the period, TESS Haram was merged with TESS Ålesund, and the staff is now part of the Business is growing steadily and the plans are in place for added growth in Norway and further afield. TESS has cooperated with the onshore and offshore petroleum industry for more than 40 years. Whether it comes to oil companies, contractors or other companies associated to the business. We are currently seeing that the notified pursuit of cost reductions, which in addition was followed by a significant weakened oil price, dampens demand for goods and services as they TESS offers. Our development is anyway customer dependent. New ways of cooperation between TESS and some customers gives us cases with a positive outlook. A weaker exchange rate in 2014 has been disadvantageous for TESS considering our commodity. Anyway, we have taken steps to move more aggressively into emerging markets. This steady expansion in TESS is to a great extent linked to our core motto: Follow your customers! The strategy is to follow our major customers wherever they might be. TESS has enjoyed great success with this strategy. Our efforts to stretch ourselves further out into the value chain have brought results. From 1 January 2014 subsea activities at headquarters have been organised under the company TESS Subsea AS. This makes it possible to streamline business focus on the market areas the previous division worked with. latter. TESS Molde og TESS Ølen have moved in to completely newly built commercial buildings owned by TESS. TESS Kristiansand, TESS Tromsø og TESS Haugesund has during the period moved to larger and more suited facilities. TESS International is scheduled to open a new service center in Houston (USA) in the 2nd half of 2015. TESS facts TESS is a Norwegian-owned and nationwide supplier of hoses, services and products for operation and maintenance. The company s core products are hoses and hose fittings for all purposes, along with a broad range of associated services. In addition, TESS is a leading Norwegian participant within the areas of welding machines and materials, cleaning machines, personal protective equipment, tools, consumables, etc. Around the company s core products, TESS has built up a large range of local services and a dedicated central technical division. TESS Subsea AS is a technology company whose primary focus is hydraulic multiline cabling products for the subsea market. The company is also pursuing a welding workshop specialising in steel tubing and installation services in TESS. Our market primarily consists of industrial customers, both on and offshore. The products are distributed through more than 100 of the company s service centres, which are spread across the entire country. Each service centre has a locally adapted range of services and inventory. TESS s head office is situated just outside the city of Drammen, 40 km south of Oslo. Vision, target and strategy Vision Target objective: NOK 10 billion in 2020. TESS shall through continued growth secure and develop solid workplaces in the local communities where TESS is established. In order to achieve this, TESS shall be the preferred supplier of products and services in the markets in which TESS has business activities at any given time. Tess shall increase cust-omers uptime and profitability. Strategy On its path to the target objective TESS shall develop: n New markets and customers, nationally and internationally n New products and services n Complete technical solutions n Integrated supply services n Expertise in the organization n Capacity for customer satisfaction Further, TESS will evaluate strategic acquisitions, alliance building and other measures that will ensure the target growth. Products and services TESS s priority is products, qualities and services which also make a positive contribution to users health, environment and safety. TESS was the first supplier in the industry to implement a quality system in 1994. The system is audited annually. TESS also takes the initiative to implement solutions that make it easier for customers to comply with public requirements, laws and regulations, with service concepts designed to prevent personal injuries, pollution and operational downtime. At TESS Approved Hose Workshops, deliveries are quality assured and the customers hose inventory is monitored by TESS Hose Management. Combined with complete technical solutions and deliveries this increases uptime and the operational security of the cust-omer s systems. The services from TESS are available 24 hours a day, all week, year round. Health, safety and environment TESS has for a number of years established systems for its work with health, safety and environment (HSE). Both internal controls and mapping of the working environment have had a permanent place in the personnel handbook for a long time. A joint HES system has been established for all of TESS operations. The system is based on ISO 140001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007. Waste sorting and recycling are important at all our locations. In addition, TESS has started a program for extensive use of electric driven vehicles in the nearest future. Safety An intensified focus on the reporting of non-performance events and conditions was given high priority in 2014. TESS has in 2015 a goal of achieving H1<2 and H2<5. Ethical guidelines TESS ethical guidelines have been compiled in a 24 page document. These are guidelines for all employees, boards, contracted consultants and others acting on behalf of TESS. An annual health check is done on the ethical environment. TESS Academy TESS Academy offers courses which are available to all TESS employees. Last year there were over 77 different courses to choose between. In the course of 2014 TESS Academy has received 628 enrolments. In total 1230 completed e-learning courses. It is carried out in total 948 teaching days, of which 173 days of instruction in leadership development. Total revenue abroad were 95 MNOK, giving a total operating profit of 7,0 MNOK. In addition comes T&M Inc. in the USA (50 % stake) with a turnover of 13 MNOK. Financial strength TESS enjoys a strong financial position and holds large unused credit reserves. TESS has a realistic dividend policy and surplus is retained in the company to the greatest degree possible to be used as a contribution to investments and further growth. Milestones in 2014 and 1 st half 2015 New openings abroad Under the direction of TESS International, there are opened three new service centers abroad during the period. TESS Brazil opened a new service centre in Niteroi outside Rio de Janeiro in July 2014. TESS has a total of 50 employees in Brazil. In February 2015 TESS Singapore was officially opened inside Jurong Industrial Estate. The business disposes 930 square meters of floor space and has six employees. TESS Fredrikshavn in Denmark was opened in June 2015. TESS is now present in four continents. TESS Houston will be officially opened in the autumn 2015. New Partnershop During the first half of 2015 there are opened TESS Partnershops with RadoyGruppen and Statoil Mongstad. Both are located on the inside of our partner s facilities north of Bergen. They are staffed by employees of TESS. In addition, it was signed a renewed Partnershop agreement with a collaboration platform consisting of three industrial companies in Mo i Rana. The Partnershop agreement with the large construction company Hæhre Entreprenør was also renewed. Industrial Fashion Fair 2015 TESS arranged the Industriens Motemesse (IM 2015) in Telenor Arena, outside Oslo, on March 25 to 26, 2015. The exhibition and conference had New Energy and environmentally friendly transport as special themes. The fair was the thirteenth by TESS and gathered 112 exhibitors and 38 speakers. The event reached an all time digestion with over 1400 participants. TESS opened in February 2015 service center in Singapore. In addition, TESS has totally renewed an old harbor warehouse at Risøy in Haugesund, which was ready for occupation in June 2015. Likewise builds TESS new properties at Kokstad outside Bergen as well as in Vikersund outside Drammen ready for occupation by the end of 2015. TESS Uptime - new vending concept TESS has during Q1 2015 launched a brand new vending machine for small articles named TESS Uptime. The vending machine is very flexible and offers large capacity. As the first of its kind it comes with integrated disposal station for packaging waste. The first agreement with industrial user was signed in March 2015. Prestigious orders for TESS Vest The project sales department in TESS Vest received several special orders from the petroleum inustry during second half of 2014. The largest of these is for delivery of a total of 89 utility stations for the Mariner platform on UKCS. This order is among the largest ever received by TESS Vest. Services E-commerce, E-invoicing and EDI-solutions TESS has 15 years experience with E-commerce. We have worked hard to remain at the forefront of this area. Today, we can offer customers all types of solutions in this connection. The trend is that an increasing number of organisations require their collaborative partners to be able to offer E-invoicing. Norwegian authorities have introduced requirements which state that publicly owned organisations shall trade with suppliers who use E-invoicing. TESS is well prepared, and meets these requirements. TESS offers E-invoicing based on a number of standards, or customised in accordance with requirements. Invoices can also be sent as PDF files via e-mail. THM increased uptime for the customers TESS are constantly developing the market-leading maintenance system TESS Hose Management. Improved systems and procedures makes the concept even more attractive in the market, primarily for markets as shipping and offshore. It has been performed THM operations in several parts of the world. Revenue growth shows a very good performance. The aquaculture industry is showing increasing interest. We have developed and launched the Kundeweb 3,0 software which is very well received. Our concept TESS Soft is also received with great interest. It have been executed THM-operations in several parts of the world. The period include the conclusion of an agreement on the registration and labeling of all critical hoses on the entire fleet of seismic vessels operated by PGS Geophysical. Likewise TESS has entered an agreement with Floatel International AB of Sweden, regarding THMoperations on board the company s accommodation rigs. What onshore activities concerns TESS has entered THM-agreements with Borregaard and Ostfold Energi. The size of the hose database has passed 300 000 units. TESS steel hoses The supply of complete steel hoses for various purposes is one of TESS s specialities. We have several decades experience with the production of steel hoses, which are always tailor-made for the customer. The production department outside Drammen is responsible for welding and assembly. In addition, the department handles the adaptation of compensators, the orbital welding of tubes, bending, and on-site services for the assembly of complete industrial pipe trenches with fittings. Our workshop and our staff have certifications and approvals which cover all the needs of the market, both onshore and offshore. In connection with hose production, the workshop carries out pressure testing with water/gas, penetrant, radiography and flushing in accordance with NAS/ISO standards. The workshop is quality assured in accordance with the ISO 9001 directive, certified by DNV. TESS offers package solutions (kitting) where the workshop produces complete hose assemblies as components in products for series producing customers. 24 hour service Hose watch The TESS companies offer 24 hour service and a dedicated hose watch, which is called out as needed. Strategic networks TESS Subsea as TESS Subsea AS began operating from the first working day in January 2014. The subsea industry is in an intense growth phase. This is because an increasing number of marginal oil and gas discoveries are being extracted by subsea installations on the seabed. Our subsea operations are based on hoses and knowledge of hydraulics. We produce and deliver complete bundles, jumpers and hydraulic flying leads (HFLs), and ready-to-use lines for hydraulic communication between trees, manifolds and control systems. For example, a complete HFL unit may consist of 15 tube lines. TESS also supplies jumpers for topside use. In recent years, our subsea products have been used on the Norwegian continental shelf and in West Africa, Russia and Australia. During the period, it was gained orders from Aker Solutions in complete umbilicals with extruded covers. Scope is the largest of its kind since the subsea workshop was established in 2007. The strain in the workshop has been steadily good throughout the year. New references will strengthen our position in the market. TESS Subsea is located in the geographical Subsea Valley, and has a involvement in the Association Subsea Valley. According to the future plans TESS Subsea will be moved to some of the halls in Industrigata 6 (neighbor estate to the headquarters) as soon as they are available. 6 Termination final assembly in the workshop of TESS Subsea. EDIS is a group of collaborating European companies that exchange knowledge, solutions and technical competence relating to the industry s needs. All members also work with hoses and related services. The group organises common procurement and product development for the members, among other things. TESS has been a member since autumn 1993. NAHAD is an American association for manufacturers and wholesalers within the hose industry. Through membership with NAHAD, TESS has access to research and competence both within the hose industry and relating to integrated supply. TESS has been a member since 1993. ISA, previously IDA (USA) is the world s largest organisation for distributors to the industry. TESS became a member of ISA in the autumn of 1995 and has participated in a number of meetings and conferences. Through NAHAD and ISA, TESS also has access to research results from NAW (The American National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors). Subsea Valley is an interest organisation for companies within the area of subsea technology located between Notodden and Oslo. TESS is member no. 1.
