OPEN CIRCUIT ARM DETECTOR (OCAD) The possibility of electrical interference causing railway electronic signalling malfunction has always existed. One source of interference, to which low frequency signalling are particularly prone, is as a result of imbalance in traction rectifier bridge electrical performance. Such an occurrence may not have an impact from an energy point of view. However the resultant electrical interference could cause signalling system failure. Ultra s OCAD product has the ability to tolerate such interference without generating spurious alarm signals. OCAD has a proven operational track record and is specified by many of its clients. Whilst the majority of requirements tend to lie within similar parameters, Ultra designs its products to meet the client s specific electrical and mechanical requirements. Ultra s engineers are conversant with a wide range of national and international standards. Ultra has supplied TRUs to the traction markets for over 50 years. AUXILIARY SUB-STATION EQUIPMENT In addition to TRUs, Ultra also designs and manufactures a wide range of peripheral equipment such as control and protection panels, essential to the design of modern DC traction power sub-stations. Many products are designed specific to project requirements. These include drainage diode cubicles, mimic panels, earthing contactor cubicles, HV control and protection panels, marshalling boxes, pilot boxes, translay panels, transfer trip panels, depot battery chargers, voltage-controlled rectifiers/inverters and negative busbar. DC SUB-STATION SYSTEMS Ultra has supplied DC sub-stations to the rail industry since 1978. During this time, it has established an experienced design and project management team. Projects have been undertaken, both in the UK and overseas, on behalf of transit authorities, civil contractors, and major system suppliers, including Network Rail, Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Docklands Light Railway, London Underground and metro in Copenhagen, Manchester and Tyne & Wear. RADIO SERVICES Ultra has designed and developed radio leading-edge services for the transportation industry, and behind many key radio system suppliers, an Ultra wireless product is the communication engine. The Group s solutions cover a diverse range of applications from intelligent traffic signalling and prioritisation to wireless video applications, ensuring passenger safety onboard both trains and within the platform. bus approaches. In this way a city s transport authorities are able to ensure its bus fleet is given priority over other traffic and provided with clear passage through congested routes. This system was successfully deployed by Transport for London to support the delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Games. As part of this solution, over 17,000 units were manufactured, all compliant with the RTIG standard and fitted to buses and traffic lights across London. Ultra supplies a range of highperformance wireless video and telemetry transmission to support digital CCTV monitoring for security within the station and data transport for the public information boards, as well as train-to-platform safety monitoring solutions. AIRPORT SYSTEMS & MASS TRANSIT Baggage management Deployed at over 50 airports around the globe, UltraTrak Baggage Management suite is an essential part of the baggage handling process for any airport. It provides class-leading segregation, reconciliation tracking, security and reporting capabilities helping to improve the passenger experience HUB AIRPORT DIFFERENTIATION VIA SMOOTH AND EFFICIENT BAG REFLIGHTING Mishandled baggage has been estimated to cost airports, their airlines, and ground handlers over $3Bn each year. Furthermore, the reputational damage from passengers who suffer mishandled bags is long lived and widely voiced causing further detriment to airports and airlines. Resolving the operational issues caused by mishandled bags is very complex and costly. The UltraTrak Reflight module enables hub airports to truly differentiate themselves through the provision of smooth and efficient bag reflighting services. Designed to support the needs of today s high-pressure baggage handling operations IMPROVED PASSENGER EXPERIENCE AT LESS COST TO THE OPERATOR Customer studies have shown that the UltraTrak Reflight module reduced process time by more than 90% for baggage reflighting; improving efficiency and saving money by minimising the number of process steps needed to reflight a bag. Customers using UltraTrak Reflight are finding their reputation is enhanced following direct feedback from passenger s who are delighted to find their bags have made it with them following very short transfers. One customer saves more than 11Million every year just in avoiding the repatriation costs of avoidable mishandled bags alone. A customer who had previously processed all their reflights at the end of the shift has found that UltraTrak Reflight enables them to process bags continuously throughout the day. Consequently when passengers reach their destination they find that whilst their bag had missed its connection it is already on its way. The passenger then has the choice of waiting at the airport to collect their bags, which can reduce repatriation costs, or having their bag delivered to them when it arrives. This speed and efficiency both impresses the passenger and protects the airlines reputation. UltraTrak Reflight is a must for all airports with a large transfer flight operation who wish to demonstrate resilience of their baggage operations in order to become a world class hub of choice for airlines and passengers alike. At one European hub, up to 70% of bags are reflighted automatically or via a remote reflighting screen without ever requiring extra handling. 5 6

The UltraResource modules include: check-in planner, stand planner, gate planner, baggage make-up planner, baggage reclaim planner, a rulebase configuration client, resource layout client and slot coordination handled via integration to an external system. Making training easy, and less costly, with an intuitive system UltraResource uses conventional graphical user interfaces with selfexplanatory displays and menu options resulting in an intuitive system requiring minimal technical or user training. Clients such as administration, configuration and reporting are common across the management and database. This reduces training requirements and reduces the workload on operators. Enabling improved Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) with flexible planning options The user has a choice of planning approaches either by template, by analogy or by artificial intelligence (AI). The AI is provided simply and elegantly through a set of business constraints and rules, which can be maintained and adjusted by users to meet current and changing requirements. Resource allocations and actual usage, including tows, are synchronised in the central database for improved CDM and distribution of accurate information to billing and other. Ultra s FIDS, AODB and Resource Management Systems provide all of the functionality we demand as a busy and dynamic international hub airport. Mr Michael Ladd, IS Manager, Minneapolis Airport, AERONAUTICAL INVOICING SYSTEM Deployed at more than 40 airports around the globe, UltraBilling is an automated invoicing application that enables the generation of a comprehensive range of bills for aeronautical services such as landing, parking and handling, for all flight types (commercial, private, charters, military, training and overflights). UltraBilling includes three billing methods; aeronautical, desk invoicing and property management. Having the three types of invoicing within the same application is recognised by the existing user community as providing flexible and extremely easy data consolidation. This also means that integration to third party, such as ERP financial suite only requires a single interface schema, thus implementation and integration are simplified and accelerated. The embedded reporting tool enables generation of consolidated reports, including both aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue, for any given customer. The in-built fee management tool enables the creation of required fees as well as the management of the calculation rules and validity period of a given tariff. This enables improved tariff management year-on-year and keeps a history of it to support analysis. The system also provides the users with the flexibility to create as many fees as required to match the evolving business requirements. UltraBilling provides the airport specific coverage an out-the-box ERP system cannot. Management of Pre-paid Customer Accounts for general aviation flights UltraBilling includes desk invoicing which is mainly used for private flights. For ease of use the invoicing process is the same as for other flights. It does not include the cash management functionality as this operation is usually handled in the core financial system. However, a flag mechanism can be available to track if a customer has paid an invoice or not and so indicate whether they are allowed to use any airport services. Multi-site Billing capability to reduce operational costs UltraBilling supports full multi-site architectures where it can significantly reduce operational costs. Recently, UltraBilling was implemented in 13 major airports in Morocco, with a central server and data warehouse based in the Moroccan Airports Agency s Headquarters with a single interface into their core ERP financial system, considerably streamlining their operations. UltraBilling can handle many different types of fee; these include a growing range of aeronautical fees and property fees. 11 12

AIRPORT SYSTEMS & MASS TRANSIT Airport operational Ultra is a leading provider of airport operational, passenger processing and ground handling/baggage management, delivered as integrated solutions or managed services, to meet the key business drivers of airports, airlines and ground handling agents. OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS SYSTEM UltraAPEX is Ultra s proven business intelligence platform that has been created to address the typical big questions any airport needs to answer regarding the performance and effectiveness of operations. UltraAPEX comprises 11 modules specifically designed and targeted to deliver the maximum business benefit to airport operations. These include situation awareness modules such as; airport maps, flight grids, CDM milestone dashboards, CDM EuroControl, pre-departure sequencer and notices, events and alerts. Deployment is flexible and modules can be implemented stand alone, incrementally or as part of a complete bundle. Manage the Amber UltraAPEX supports airports in resolving operational issues in an efficient manner. Reaction time to issues is reduced and airports can be confident that they will have both the standardised processes and relevant information available to resolve them before they materially affect the performance of the operation. I m extremely impressed by the advanced baggage management reporting capability. Mr Simon Miles, Manager Global Baggage, Virgin Atlantic A Powerful Aide to Operational Process Improvement UltraAPEX allows airports to map out their operational processes and enrich them with business rules specific to their environment and quickly identify the operational areas ripe for improvement. The historic performance of key operational data can be analysed to highlight the true cause of the operational bottlenecks, breakdown the silos and identify the factors that contribute to repetitive performance degradation. The graphical workflow engine, backed by a comprehensive set of pre-configured Business Intelligence packs means less time is spent gathering and interpreting data and more time can be spent on operational improvement programmes underpinned by real organisational performance insight. 13 Delivering valued operational performance analysis to airports, transforming first come first served to best planned best served. First hand feedback reveals that culture shift is the biggest challenge for any airport wishing to increase efficiency through CDM. Knowing that airports wish to progress with A-CDM, finding a technology partner who truly understands A-CDM, has experience implementing it, and has built the right tools to support the process is a must. Airport-Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) Studies show that airport collaborative decision making (A-CDM) offers substantial benefits with a predicted benefit-to-cost ratio of 9:1 and a return of investment within 2 years. Multiple information sources key to the operation can be consolidated and presented in a manner that allows true situational awareness across the whole business, allowing proactive monitoring of the value chain for passenger, baggage and aircraft. By providing the ability to associate key events to a set of pre-defined tasks, a standardised response to these events is enabled. This ensures stakeholders understand what is required and when, removing confusion and greatly increasing effectiveness. Executive Situational Awareness at a Glance Targeted specifically at the executive decision makers who need to see the Big Picture at a glance, the airport map provides an overview of what is happening with the whole operation. Aircraft can be viewed in real time as they manoeuvre around the apron, taxiways and runways and stand utilisation can be understood instantly with visual indications against the aircraft parked on them, for example whether the aircraft is arriving, departing, early or late. The airport map provides the benefit of an up to the minute overview of the operation either as a control room screen or integrated into an executive dashboard as part of the operational status overview. Mobile device support ensures that, as an incident unfolds; situational updates can be made by the people on the ground to maximise an airports ability to respond. The milestone dashboard supports all of the 16 EuroControl milestones. It provides an overall view of the entire turnaround process, including the capability to view by exception and to proactively manage the flights predicted to be late. The full benefits of A-CDM cannot be realised without a pre-departure sequencer. Using scientifically designed algorithms from a leading UK university, the pre-departure sequencer optimises the pre-departure process to improve punctuality and slot adherence making your airport more attractive to your airline customers by delivering substantial fuel savings, and efficiencies in all aspects of ground handling. 14

AIRPORT SYSTEMS & MASS TRANSIT Having delivered integration services to over 25 airports, Ultra designs them to deliver maximum value to an airport, by understanding the business processes and facilitating the connectivity of multiple mission critical airport. Master integration Ultra is a leading provider of information solutions for airport operations, serving more than 100 airports worldwide. AIRPORT DATA INTEGRATION SERVICES A Wealth of Legacy Interfaces Ultra s are installed at many major international airports around the world and, as a result, Ultra has a wealth of proven interface adaptor software available for re-use. These can be deployed as part of direct integration, via a 3rd party ESB or with the use of Ultra s own Integration Broker System (IB), UltraIB. Ultra currently interfaces with in excess of 200. Flexible SOA Message Services UltraIB supports a loosely coupled Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for business process integration between application. The services are defined to meet specific business requirements; the information to be exchanged is defined by means of the message content and can therefore be loosely coupled integration via a range of communications protocols. Application Categories The SOA message services satisfy a wide spectrum of integration needs. Ultra has a library of over 50 standard, re-useable message services currently available for delivering value across the whole airport campus. independent of both application. The SDK gives the ability to carry out rapid integration using standard reuseable services and provides modern interconnectivity using industry standards. The SDK uses standard data distribution and update services tailored for the airport and airlines domain and contains an extensive library of standard integration adaptors for legacy. The use of XML techniques to define the message content brings the benefits of international standardisation as XML is the de facto international, open standard for information exchange between. UltraIB is based on industry standards, with a secure, modular, scalable and extensible infrastructure, which supports long term IT strategy. This open standards approach facilitates Service Deployment Kit (SDK) As part of a total integration solution, Ultra offers real value add to customers in the form of a service deployment kit (SDK). The SDK allows airports to take control of their own airport integration and to maximise the return on investment of the business benefit of choosing a services based integration strategy. The back office message services ensure airports can make full use of the operational data throughout all aspects of the enterprise. The automation of the data manipulation processes not only frees up time for staff to focus on their core job but also improves accuracy by reducing risk of data entry error. The SDK is far more than a software development kit, it is the whole integration methodology, including; design patterns; governance approach; and data model. It provides the low-level software development kit needed to integrate, connect and test any 3rd party system, as well as the associated training. Airport Integration Broker System UltraIB contains standard features which greatly simplify the task of system integration for airports. It also provides additional flexibility to accommodate specific capabilities, such as legacy system support. The system can be deployed either in conjunction with other Ultra products, or used to support integration of existing or new provided by other 3rd party suppliers, including linking to an already existing back office or enterprise IB. When an airport chooses a Service Orientated Integration strategy, it is generally part of a long term approach stretching years into the future. No airport can accurately predict all of the required services up front, so Ultra s SDK offers airports genuine lowered total cost of ownership with control of reusable, expandable, scalable services based integration. A key objective of UltraIB design is to simplify the implementation requirement for 3rd party client and the configuration utility is designed to facilitate speedy creation of interfaces. 15 16
