Quick Lists and Macros for E.H.R. Charting Quick Lists A quick list is formulated so a provider can quickly chart using the procedure codes that are most frequently used, without having to choose from the entire ADA procedure code list. Helpful Hint Remember that quick lists can also be made for Findings so existing conditions, both hard and soft tissue can be charted efficiently!! Quick Lists can be customized for any provider level. For example, a hygiene quick list would consist of frequently used diagnostic, preventive and perio procedure codes and may not include any restorative, endodontic or surgical codes. A faculty provider s quick list may include procedure codes that may not yet be available to a dental student. In order to make a quick list, a User level and the corresponding EHR Display Option must exist in axium. Once this has been done, the process is a follows: From Maintenance: 1. Click on the Clinical tab 2. Double click on the Procedure Codes icon the Procedure Codes List window will open. 3. Click on the symbol - the Quick List Categories window will open. 1 Page

4. Click on the light bulb to clear any data 5. Choose the User level i.e. Hyg Student via the drop down arrow 6. Change the Type field to Dental Tx via the drop down arrow 7. Create a Category name i.e. Diagnostics 8. Click on the folder with the green plus sign to add the category 9. Click on the button the Quick List Definitions window will open ***** This is where you will now build the quick list: ***** 2 Page

1. Click on the Is Heading radio button 2. Type in the Description for the heading i.e. Exams 3. Click on the folder with the green plus sign to add the heading 4. Click on the Is Item radio button the Code radio button will already be selected 5. Click on the ellipse - the Procedure Code List window will open 6. Choose the appropriate code i.e. D0120 and then double click to pull it into the code and display description field 7. You can leave the display description field as is or change/abbreviate it 8. Click on the folder with the green plus sign to add the code and description Screen shot for these steps on the next page... 3 Page

9. To add another exam code, repeat steps 5-8 10. To add a new heading i.e. Radiographs, repeat from step 1 Helpful Hint For certain procedure codes such as sealants, amalgams, resins and endos you need only one code each on a quick list. The application will calculate the proper information if the procedure code is grouped in the maintenance set up. When the User of that level logs into axium, chooses a patient, opens their E.H.R, and clicks on the Tx History tab and then the folder with the green plus sign to begin charting, the Chart Add tab will open to their Quick List. 4 Page

Macros The term Macro in axium is used to describe a set or combination of procedure codes bundled into one. This allows the provider to chart multiple codes from different categories all at once with a single click. It is a similar process as adding procedure codes to a quick list: From Maintenance: 1. Click on the Clinical tab 2. Double click on the Procedure Macros Codes icon the Procedure Macro Codes window will open 3. Choose a Code for this macro i.e. RECALL 4. Type in a Description for this macro 5. Check the appropriate check boxes if needed 6. Click on the folder with the green plus sign to add the macro 7. Click on the button Procedure Macro Definitions window will open 5 Page

This is now where you will now build the macro: 1. The Macro and Name fields in this window will be pre-populated 2. The Item Type field will have Procedure grayed out since axium presumes this is what you are adding. 3. Click on the ellipse - the Procedure Code List window will open 4. Choose the appropriate code i.e. D1110 and then double click to pull it into the procedure and description fields. The quantity field will default to 1 5. Click on the folder with the green plus sign to add the code 6. To add other codes for the macro, repeat steps 3-5 7. You can move the codes in the appropriate order by using the Up and Down buttons The screen shot on the following page is a completed macro: 6 Page

Helpful Hint Once added to the list you can move the codes in the appropriate order by using the Up and Down buttons Following the steps above you could now add this Macro to a provider s Quick List 1. Create a Quick List Category titled Macros 2. Click on the button Quick List Definitions window will open 3. Instead of choosing a code to pull in, now select the Macro radio button 4. Click on the ellipse - the Procedure Macro Codes window will open 5. Choose the appropriate Macro i.e. Recall and then double click to pull it into the macro and display description field 6. Click on the folder with the green plus sign to add the Macro Screen shot for these steps on the next page... 7 Page

When the User of that level logs into axium, chooses a patient, opens their E.H.R, clicks on the Tx History tab and then the folder with the green plus sign to begin charting, the Chart Add tab will open to their Quick List. They simply click on the Macro Category and then click the Macro to add to the chart. Helpful Hint Hover the mouse over the macro code text and the procedure codes that are included will be displayed. 8 Page

The following is an example of charting a Comprehensive Oral exam and an Intraoral complete series using a Quick List: Click on the Rolodex icon and choose the patient Click on the E.H.R icon Click on the Tx History tab Click on Add a new record Click on the Codes tab icon Click on the Dental Tx radio button Click on the Diagnostic category Click on the Quick List tab Click on D2150 Click on the appropriate Planned, In-Process or Completed Click on D0210 Click on the appropriate Planned, In-Process or Completed 9 Page
