1 morgan stanley online fall 2012 Update Quicken with your Morgan Stanley Online Account Information summary After the conversion from SmithBarney.com to Morgan Stanley Online, you will need to update your financial institution and Morgan Stanley Online account numbers to continue to download data into Quicken. Please follow these five steps to ensure that your data is successfully backed up prior to updating your Morgan Stanley Online financial institution and account information. STEP 1 Obtain your new Morgan Stanley Online Account Number(s) STEP 2 Back up your Quicken Data File STEP 3 Back up your Quicken OFX Log STEP 4 Deactivate your existing SmithBarney.com accounts STEP 5 Establish your new Morgan Stanley Online Account(s) on Quicken
2 STEP 1 Obtain your new Morgan Stanley Online Account Number(s) 1. Log in to Morgan Stanley Online at morganstanley.com/online. 2. Go to Your Profile & Settings and click View next to Account Nicknames. 3. Obtain your new 9-digit Morgan Stanley Online account numbers from the Account Number column. Note: You may want to use this opportunity to provide nicknames for your accounts. 2
3 STEP 2 Back up your Quicken Data File 1. In Quicken, click File, hover over Backup and Restore, then select Back Up Quicken File 2. On the Quicken Backup screen, select a folder to save your Quicken Backup file and click Back Up Now. 3. Click OK when Quicken Backup is complete. 3
4 mssb online cont. STEP 3 Back up your Quicken OFX Log 1. In Quicken, click Help, then Log Files. Note: In Quicken , click Help, then Product and Customer Support, then OFX Log. 2. On the Quicken Log Files screen, click OFX Log. 4
5 STEP 3 (CONT) Back up your Quicken OFX Log 3. Click Save As Select your directory, name your log file and click Save. 5
6 STEP 4 Deactivate your existing SmithBarney.com accounts Note: Only complete this step for accounts that have transitioned from SmithBarney.com to Morgan Stanley Online. You will need to repeat these tasks for each account held at Morgan Stanley. 1. In Quicken, right-click the first Morgan Stanley account listed in the left-side navigation and select Edit/Delete Account. 2. On the Account Details screen, click the Online Services tab. 6
7 STEP 4 (CONT) Deactivate your existing SmithBarney.com accounts 3. Click Deactivate under Online Setup. Note: Earlier versions of Quicken may say Remove from One Step Update instead of Deactivate. 4. Click Yes to deactivate and then OK to confirm. 7
8 STEP 4 (CONT) Deactivate your existing SmithBarney.com accounts 5. Back on the Account Details screen, click the General tab, delete text in the Financial Institution and Account Number fields, then click OK. REMINDER Repeat the tasks in Step 4 for each account held at Morgan Stanley. 8
9 STEP 5 Establish your new Morgan Stanley Online Account(s) on Quicken You will need to repeat these tasks for each account held at Morgan Stanley. 1. On the Account Details screen, click the Online Services tab, then click Set Up Now under Online Setup. Note: Earlier versions of Quicken may say Activate One Step Update instead of Set Up Now On the first Add Brokerage Account screen, choose Morgan Stanley Wealth Management from the list of financial institutions, then click Next. 9
10 STEP 5 (CONT) Establish your new Morgan Stanley Online Account(s) on Quicken 3. On the next Add Brokerage Account screen, enter your Morgan Stanley Online user name and password as well as your new Morgan Stanley account number. Click Connect. After clicking Connect, you will be prompted to download data. It is imperative that you review the next step before you complete your first download from Morgan Stanley Online. Remember: When entering the Morgan Stanley account number, only the first nine digits should be used, without spaces or dashes. 4. Upon downloading data for the first time from Morgan Stanley Online, you will be prompted to add positions that already exist in Quicken to your holdings. Review the data and then click Edit / Delete to remove positions that already exist in Quicken. Do not accept these duplicate positions or the cost basis and dates of the original positions will be removed. Click on the Edit button shown above on right hand side and then select Delete (green arrow). REMINDER Repeat the tasks in Step 5 for each account held at Morgan Stanley. ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT INFORMATION If you did not download your data from SmithBarney.com during the six months prior to conversion, Quicken will automatically download 18 months of data. You will need to manually delete any duplicate transactions. Your account data will download to Quicken from the calendar day following your last download date. If any transactions occurred after your download, but prior to the next calendar day, you will need to enter these manually. Your first download after updating your information may indicate a download date of January 1, This will automatically update to the current date at your next download. 09/12 CRC#
