AVALON BANNER NOVEMBER - 2009 This is the first of hopefully a long running Avalon newsletter designed to keep our owners informed on the current events and other news. It will be issued several times per year. Owners comments on news items are welcomed but they must meet a test to be included; not controversial, a solicitation of business or service, 50 words or less and approval by the Editor and our Board. This is meant to be uplifting and informative to the best of our ability. Any info on owner s illnesses or death must come from the immediate family. Complaints should be sent only to Board members. Space may limit the number of comments and approval received by the Editor and the Board. Some of the items could include: 1. Activities in either Avalon or Pelican Bay. 2. Compliments for Avalon activities Welcome Back Party. On Oct 30 th, Erika and Dieter Spieth, N-5, sponsored our first social of the fall year at the pool. It was simply a bring-your-own dish, with lots of fun, good food, conversation and the best news no one was thrown into the pool. Larry had a discussion on the new gate and the codes. President s Corner. The board on November 12 approved the purchase of two Weber gas grills. One will be placed near the Hammock Oak gate and the other on the northwest corner near the E & F buildings. Walkway pavers will be installed at both locations. The grills will sit on concrete bases and secured with steel cables.
The board also approved the budget for 2010. Thanks to the fine work of our treasurer Herb Stopper and for the 3rd straight year we will not see an increase. Some items to consider in your condo! 1. Replace wash machine hoses with steel reinforced hoses! (May save you from a real mess and water damage) 2. Water heaters. Original heaters were only good for 10-12 years. 3. Dishwashers. This way we can improve communications with our owners. If we do not have your address, you can email me Harry Weingartner at harbetwein@aol.com Pelican Bay News. 1.
