Date of Release: November 2, 2015 Agency: Sheldon Police Dept/ O Brien County Sheriff s Office/Sioux County Sheriff s Office The Sheldon Police Dept., Sioux County Sheriff s Office and the O Brien County Sheriff s Office are conducting a joint investigation into a burglary at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. The burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Monday November 2, 2015 between 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM. The suspect or suspects forcibly entered a building on the campus of Northwest Iowa Community College and then forcibly entered an ATM machine located inside the building. The ATM was heavily damaged and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the machine. The investigating law enforcement agencies are asking for the assistance from anyone in the general public who might have information about this crime to contact their local law enforcement agency. Date of Release: August 31, 2015 Agency: Paullina Police Department and O Brien County Sheriff s Office The Paullina Police Department and the O Brien County Sheriff s Office are investigating a burglary at JD Tavern on Main Street in Paullina, Iowa. The burglary occurred between 10:30 PM on Friday evening August 28th and 7:30 AM on Saturday August 29th. The suspects gained entry into the facility by forcing open a walk in door. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the business. Date of Release: August 16, 2015 s Office The O Brien County Sheriff s Office is investigating a burglary at The Hideout, a bar and restaurant in Germantown, Iowa in southwestern O Brien County. The burglary occurred between 11:00 PM on Friday evening August 14th and 1:00 PM on Saturday August 15th. The suspects gained entry into the facility by prying open a walk in door. Items stolen from the business included cash and alcoholic beverages. Date of Release: July 28, 2015 Nature: Assault Arrest The O Brien County Sheriff s Office received a report of an assault at th street, Primghar 11:04 a.m. on July 20, A Sheriff s deputy responded and arrested Ashleigh J. Sloan, age 25 for allegedly assaulting Jessica Burley, a staff member of the Pride Group home. When attempting to arrest Ms. Sloan she allegedly assaulted the

3 deputy Sheriff. The assault on Ms. Burley is a simple assault and the assault on the deputy Sheriff is a serious misdemeanor. Neither assault required medical attention and no weapons were involved. Ms. Sloan was transported to the O Brien County Jail. She was released from jail the next day on an unsecured appearance bond. She will appear in District Court at a later date. Date of Release: June 18, 2015 Nature: Stolen Vehicle Investigation The O Brien County Sheriff s Office investigated a stolen vehicle in unincorporated Moneta on June 12, A black 1993 Chevrolet Suburban was taken from the 3500 block of Nielsen Ave sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. A suspect was developed and the vehicle was recovered in Des Moines, IA on June 16th. The investigation continues into the matter. 4 Agency: Sheldon Police Dept. The Sheldon Police Department is investigating two criminal mischief incidents during which suspects used a sharp instrument to scratch the paint on vehicles causing a significant amount of damage to the paint surface. The incidents occurred sometime on April 1, 2015 or April 2, 2015 while the vehicles were parked either in the 500 block of 10 th Street or the 400 block of 9 th Street in Sheldon, Iowa. DATE: March 27, 2015 TIME: 1:00 PM SUBJECT: Burglary arrests AGENCY: O Brien County Sheriff s Office Numerous northwest Iowa law enforcement agencies including the O Brien, Osceola, Lyon and Sioux County Sheriff s Offices and the Sheldon, Sutherland and Paullina Police Departments have worked jointly on a series of burglary and theft investigations. The investigations involved burglaries to businesses, residences and vehicles in the northwest Iowa area that occurred primarily between May 1, 2014 and October 1, The thefts involved items including guns cash, jewelry, a motorcycle, tools and fishing equipment. Seth William Johnson, age 29 of Paullina, is alleged to have committed these crimes and has been charged with seven counts of Burglary 3 rd degree a class D felony, seven counts of Burglary 3 rd degree an aggravated misdemeanor and six counts of Theft 2 nd degree a class D felony. The charges which are a class D felonies are punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500. The charges that are aggravated misdemeanors are punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $6250. Johnson has been booked into the O Brien County Jail on the charges and will make appearances in District Court in the respective counties at a later date. The public is reminded that a criminal charge is merely an accusation. All persons are innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected as a part of this investigation. TO: All News Media FROM: O Brien County Sheriff's Office, Primghar, IA Date of Release: March 15, 2015 Nature: Traffic Pursuit A motorist complaint called into the O Brien County Sheriff s Office at 12:45 pm on March 15, 2015 of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and all over the roadway resulted in a traffic pursuit. An O Brien County Sheriff s deputy located the vehicle as it entered Sanborn westbound on Hwy 18 and observed the vehicle all over the road and speeding as complainant had indicated. The deputy initiated a traffic stop but the vehicle

5 did not yield to law enforcement. A pursuit ensued with speeds up to 70 mph westbound on Hwy 18 towards Sheldon. The vehicle was disabled by spike strips deployed by Sheldon Police on Sheldon s east side, resulting in the vehicle coming to a stop and driver ultimately arrested. SCAT was dispatched to check the driver but was a no transport. David C. Nachtigal, age 32, of Ashton was charged with: OWI-2nd offense (aggravated misdemeanor.), eluding (class D felony), open container, speeding and for an outstanding O Brien County warrant for contempt of court. Nachtigal was transported to the O Brien County Jail and bond set at $9,100. He is currently remains in jail on bond. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. TO: All News Media FROM: O Brien County Sheriff's Office, Primghar, IA Date of Release: January 6, 2015 Nature: Crime Dusters Press Release The O Brien County Sheriff s Office is investigating a criminal mischief incident at the Mid-American Pipeline Terminal one mile east of Sanborn near the junction of Highway #59 and Highway #18. The incident is believed to have occurred between 2:00 PM and 11:45 PM on December 29, A vehicle was used to ram the main gate of the security fence that encompasses the property. The gate was heavily damaged in the process of the collision and the suspect s vehicle also sustained front end damage but had left the scene prior to the officer s arrival.
