There are many activities that can be done outside as a family from playing sports to just taking a walk in the park. Get out and be active! - Create a nature treasure hunt and go to a local walking trail. See how many items on the treasure hunt you can find. -Visit different playgrounds. -Set up a giant tick-tack-toe board and play with a Frisbee -Got sidewalk chalk? Create a hopscotch board, a throw for distance area, or a bike/scooter obstacle course on a driveway/safe area to play. -Check out a local farmers market and make it a family goal to enjoy more fresh summer produce! This is a six week theme program, you can choose a particular week or do all of them. The program runs from June 30 th through August 7 th, from 8:30-3:30 pm. REC-PAC locations this year will be at, Dranesville, Floris, Herndon, Hutchison and McNair Elementary Schools. Partial Scholarships are available for families that qualify. Week 1 (6/30-7/3) July 4th OFF Party in the USA! Hooray for the Red, White and Blue. Join us as we celebrate July 4th through arts, games and sports. Rec-PAC closed July 4th. Week 2 (7/7-7/11) Spirit Week Show your PAC pride on these fun-filled theme days: crazy hair, crazy socks, team jersey, ping pong table decorating. Meet and learn about Buddy the Wolf and enjoy a teambuilding Feld Day. Week 3 (7/14-7/18) Monsters vs. Super Heroes Calling all Super Heroes! Grab your mask and cape and prepare to save the day. Get creative and design your own super heroes, monsters, slime and creepy critters. Dress up and have a super time at the Monster Mania Party! Week 4 (7/21-7/25) Space Explorers 3-2-1 Lift Off! Blast into outer space as we explore the planets and the galaxy. Create your own starship, place items in a time capsule and fly your rocket to the Galaxy Quest Party! This week is sure to be out of this world. Attention sixth grade parents!!!! The sixth grade carnival is coming up fast! To make it a great event for our kids we need everyone's help. The carnival is Thursday, June 19th. We are in need of volunteers for items big and small. We also need help the day of the carnival. Please make sure that you are getting involved as many hands make light work. JDRF is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, they provide support and fund research for people with Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes unlike Type 2 cannot be cured. Help DES help JRDF find a cure! Here is our progress so far. No matter the donation, every penny counts and gets us one step closer to a cure! Week 5 (7/28-8/1) Out of the Box! Are you creative? If so, this is the week for you! Join us as we use our creativity and imagination to build and design things made out of boxes. Cars, forts, castles and club houses. Anything your mind can think of we are sure to build. Show off your cool design at the Building Blocks Party Week 6 (8/4-8/7) 4 Days- No Rec-PAC August 8 Rec-PAC Gives Back! Rec-PAC needs YOU!! Come make a difference as you and your friends get involved in the community in which you live. This community service week is all about helping others and giving back.
