Event in Progress When an Energy Wise Rewards conservation period is in progress, the phrase Event in Progress will be displayed in the message rotation at the top of the home screen. The LED on the Action button ( ) will maintain a steady light for the duration of the event. Delmarva Power Web-Programmable Thermostat Homeowner s Manual 15

2. Event in Progress (Continued) The LED colors represent a few different types of conservation periods: Green standard Energy Wise Rewards conservation period Red PJM-required conservation period (user is unable to opt out) Yellow User has opted out of the conservation period 3. Seeing Scheduled Conservation Periods Delmarva Power Energy Wise Rewards participants can see future scheduled conservation periods (shown as Control Events on the thermostat). a. Press the UTILITY button on the home screen. b. Press or to highlight Control Events, then press. c. If a conservation period has been scheduled, you can see the details by pressing. 16 Delmarva Power Web-Programmable Thermostat Homeowner s Manual

Energy Wise Rewards Program Messages Delmarva Power Energy Wise Rewards can provide specific messaging to participants directly through the thermostat. Press or to highlight Messages, then press to access your message. c. Press to see the details of your message. Delmarva Power Web-Programmable Thermostat Homeowner s Manual 17

POWER LOSS The Energy Wise Rewards thermostat is designed to withstand a power loss without the need of a battery backup. The thermostat responds to a power loss as follows: All Thermostat Settings and Schedule Programming are stored to permanent memory and retained throughout the power loss. The thermostat will return to the same System Mode (Off/Heat/Cool/Aux) it was in prior to the power loss. A Permanent Hold will be maintained after a power loss. A Temporary Hold will be maintained after a power loss ONLY if still within the same Program Schedule time period. Otherwise the thermostat will return to operating according to the Program Schedule. The thermostat is designed to maintain the clock for at least 72 hours without power. If power has been lost for more than 72 hours, the clock will return to a factory default time and will update with the next utility time sync. A Conservation Period will be maintained after a power loss if still within the same conservation period. 18 Delmarva Power Web-Programmable Thermostat Homeowner s Manual

Troubleshooting Common Problems: No Heat, No Cool, or No Fan Possible Cause Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Furnace power switch set to OFF. Furnace blower compartment door or panel is loose or not properly installed. Corrective Action Replace fuse or reset breaker. Turn switch to ON. Replace door panel in proper position to engage safety interlock or door switch. No Heat or No Cool Possible Cause Thermostat may be in an Energy Wise Rewards conservation period. Event in Progress will be displayed on top line of home screen. System switch is set to OFF. Corrective Action Wait for the Energy Wise Rewards conservation period to end. Press the thermostat s SYSTEM button one or more times to select HEAT or COOL (as appropriate). Heat, Cool, or Fan Runs Constantly Possible Cause Corrective Action Fan set to ON. Change Fan to AUTO. Thermostat Setting and Thermometer Disagree Possible Cause Thermostat thermometer setting requires adjustment. Corrective Action The thermometer can be adjusted +/ 5 degrees. See Adjust Temperature Display on page 9. Delmarva Power Web-Programmable Thermostat Homeowner s Manual 19

Troubleshooting No Heat Possible Cause Corrective Action Pilot light not lit. System switch not set to HEAT. Furnace Lock-Out Condition. Heat may also be intermittent. Heating system requires service or thermostat requires replacement. If it will not stay lit, call for service from your HVAC contractor. Press the thermostat s SYSTEM button one or more times to select HEAT and press to raise the temperature setpoint above room temperature. Many furnaces have safety devices that shut down when a lock-out condition occurs. If the heat works intermittently, contact the furnace manufacturer or your HVAC contractor for assistance. To diagnose this condition: Press SYSTEM button to select HEAT and press to raise the temperature setpoint above room temperature. Within a few seconds the thermostat should make a soft click sound. This sound usually indicates the thermostat is operating properly. If the thermostat does not click after being reset, contact Delmarva Power Energy Wise Rewards for a replacement thermostat. If the thermostat does click, contact the furnace manufacturer or your HVAC contractor for a service visit to verify the heating is operating correctly. Furnace or Air Conditioner Cycles Too Fast or Too Slow (Narrow or Wide Temperature Swing) Possible Cause The location of the thermostat and/or the size of the heating system may be influencing the cycle rate. Corrective Action Electronic thermostats, like this one, normally provide precise temperature control and may cycle faster than some older mechanical models. A faster cycle rate means the unit turns on and off more frequently to maintain the desired temperature, but runs for a shorter time so there is no increase in overall energy use. 20 Delmarva Power Web-Programmable Thermostat Homeowner s Manual

Troubleshooting No Cool Possible Cause System switch not set to COOL. Outdoor unit disconnect or breaker tripped. Cooling system requires service or thermostat requires replacement. Corrective Action Press SYSTEM button to select COOL and press to lower the temperature setpoint below room temperature. Verify the outdoor unit disconnect or breaker has not been tripped. To diagnose this condition: Press SYSTEM button to select COOL and press to lower the temperature setpoint below room temperature. Within a few seconds the thermostat should make a soft click sound. This sound usually indicates the thermostat is operating properly. If the thermostat does not click after being reset, contact your installing contractor for a replacement thermostat. If the thermostat clicks, contact the furnace manufacturer or HVAC contractor for a service visit to verify the cooling is operating correctly. Multi-stage Air Conditioner or Heat Pump: Second, Third, or Fourth Stage Won t Come On Possible Cause Your thermostat is designed to determine the optimum time to activate the second stage. Simply raising the temperature in heating or lowering it in cooling will not always force the thermostat to bring the second stage on quickly. There is a time delay of 0 to 30 minutes depending on the performance of the first stage of the system. Corrective Action Wait for the second, third, or fourth stage to come on.
