1 Prerequisites REQUIRED - Microsoft IE9 Upgrade for all computers NOT running Windows XP Prior to moving forward with the installation instructions outlined in this document you must first determine if your computer requires a browser upgrade. Please use the following details to determine if you need to upgrade your browser: For computers with Windows Vista or Windows 7 using IE8 you must upgrade to IE9. For instructions on how to upgrade to IE9 go to http://www.medaccess.net/ab/resources/upgrading_ie8_to_ie9.html. Once your browser has been upgraded to IE9 you can proceed through this document. For computers with Windows XP, you do not need to upgrade your browser and can proceed through this document. NOTE: IE9 is not compatible with Windows XP To check what operating system is installed on your computer, click the Start button/orb then right click My Computer/Computer and choose Properties. REQUIRED Add Trusted Site For access to Alberta Netcare Portal through the Citrix XenApp servers, the Netcare Portal site, https://*.albertanetcare.ca must be added to the trusted site zone. Sites can be added to the trusted site zone in Internet Explorer browsers through access to the Internet Options window by selecting the Security tab and selecting Trusted Sites, and then clicking on Sites button as shown below. Recommended Administrator Access Although administrator access is not required to install the Citrix software, it is recommended that the software be installed by an Administrator or user with Administrative access. 3

REQUIRED Contact Med Access after installing Citrix Receiver Once the Citrix Receiver has been installed on all computers that require access to the Netcare PLB, please email support@med-access.net and we will make the appropriate changes in order to facilitate the new connection. You will not be routed to the new PLB until Med Access support makes the switch for your clinic s EMR. Alternatively you can contact Med Access Support by telephone: 1-888- 781-5553 Note that you only need to read the sections in this document that are applicable to your computer/operating system. 2 Uninstalling Existing Citrix Receiver Please use the steps that apply to your PC s operating system (Windows 7 and higher or Windows XP) to remove an existing Citrix Receiver that may have been downloaded previously. 3 Uninstalling existing Citrix Receiver or Plugin from Windows XP Use these steps to uninstall an existing Citrix Receiver or Plugin on any Windows XP machines that will require access to the new Netcare PLB. a) Click Start Settings Control Panel. b) Click Add or Remove Programs. c) Select Citrix Receiver or Citrix Online Plugin (depending on which product you had previously installed). 4

d) With Citrix Receiver selected click Remove. Note: if you do not have a Citrix Receiver listed, you don t have one to uninstall simply skip these next steps and advance to the Install Citrix section! e) The Uninstall window appears and the Citrix Receiver or Online Plugin will start to uninstall. 5

4 Uninstalling existing Citrix Receiver or Online Plugin from Windows Vista or Windows 7 Use these steps to uninstall an existing Citrix Receiver or Plugin on any Windows Vista or Windows 7 machines that will require access to the new Netcare PLB. a) Click the Start button. b) Click Control Panel. a. The Control Panel opens. 6

c) Click Programs and Features. a. The Uninstall or change a program window opens. d) With Citrix Receiver or Online Plugin selected click Uninstall. Note: if you do not have a Citrix Receiver listed, you don t have one to uninstall simply skip these next steps and advance to the Install Citrix section! 7

e) A user account window may appear. You need to select Yes on this prompt. f) The Citrix Receiver or Online Plugin will begin to uninstall. 8

5 Install the New Citrix Receiver Use the steps that follow to install the Citrix Receiver that is required for access to the new Netcare PLB. Choose the steps that are appropriate for the PC s operating systems (Windows XP with IE8 or Windows Vista or Windows 7 with IE9). 6 Citrix Receiver Installation for Windows XP with IE8 Use these steps to install Citrix on any Windows XP computers that use an IE8 browser and will need access to the new Netcare PLB. A published version of the Citrix Receiver software has been made available from the Alberta Netcare Portal Citrix Web Interface or XenApp page. a) To download and install the client software, go to the Netcare Citrix web site URL, https://plb.albertanetcare.ca, and log in with a valid RSA user name and passcode. 9

b) If the desktop user does not already have the Citrix Receiver installed, the Citrix installation popup will be displayed prompting the user for installation. To begin the installation process, check the I agree with the Citrix license agreement checkbox and click on the Install button. c) The File Download Security Warning dialog may appear. Choose Run. 10

d) Click on Run on the Internet Explorer Security Warning dialog box to install the Citrix Receiver. e) It may take a few minutes for the Citrix software to complete the installation. f) If a window displays that asks you to enter your work email or server address, click on Cancel. The Citrix software will still install successfully and does not require this information. 11

g) To confirm that the Citrix Receiver is running, check for the Citrix Receiver status icon on the Windows taskbar. To complete your clinic s switchover to the new Netcare PLB: Once the Citrix Receiver has been installed on all computers that require access to the Netcare PLB, please email support@med-access.net and we will make the appropriate changes in order to facilitate the new connection. Alternatively you can contact Med Access Support by telephone: 1-888-781-5553 12

7 Citrix Receiver Installation for Windows Vista or Windows 7 with IE9 Use these steps to install Citrix on any Windows Vista or Windows 7 computers that use an IE9 browser and will need access to the new Netcare PLB. A published version of the Citrix Receiver software has been made available from the Alberta Netcare Portal Citrix Web Interface or XenApp page. Ensure that the desktop does not already have any Citrix client software installed. If an older version is detected then you will not be prompted for software installation. a) To download and install the client software, go to the Netcare Citrix web site URL, https://plb.albertanetcare.ca, then log in with a valid RSA user name and passcode. b) After login, the Citrix software detection plug-in will run and prompt the client to install. To begin the installation process, ensure that the checkbox, I agree with the Citrix license agreement is checked, and then click Install. 13

c) Click Run when prompted to run or save the CitrixReciever.exe file. d) Depending on the client s desktop specifications, it may take a few minutes for the software to complete the install. Click Ok to close the Citrix Receiver screen when done. 14

e) If a window displays that asks you to enter your work email or server address, click on Cancel. The Citrix software will still install successfully and does not require this information. To complete your clinic s switchover to the new Netcare PLB: Once the Citrix Receiver has been installed on all computers that require access to the Netcare PLB, please email support@med-access.net and we will make the appropriate changes in order to facilitate the new connection. Alternatively you can contact Med Access Support by telephone: 1-888-781-5553 15

8 Citrix Receiver Installation for Mac OS X 10.6 with Firefox 13 Use these steps to install Citrix on any Mac computers that use a Firefox browser and will need access to the new Netcare PLB. Note: For Apple Mac computers, the Citrix software must be downloaded from the Alberta Netcare Citrix XenApp server. A published version of the Citrix Receiver for Mac has been made available from the Alberta Netcare Portal Citrix XenApp page. Ensure that the computer does not already have any Citrix client software installed. If an older version is detected then the user will not be prompted for software installation. a) To download and install the Citrix Receiver, go to the Netcare Citrix web site URL, https://plb.albertanetcare.ca, then log in with a valid RSA user name and passcode. b) After login, the Citrix software detection plug-in will run and prompt the Mac Citrix Receiver to install. Click Install to begin the installation process. 16

c) Click OK when prompted to download and open the Citrix Receiver DMG file. d) On the Citrix Receiver window, select Install Citrix Receiver.pkg to start the installation process. e) Continue with the installation process and agree to accept the software license agreement when prompted. 17

f) Close the Citrix installation window once the install process is complete. g) If a window displays that asks you to enter your work email or server address, click on Cancel. The Citrix software will still install successfully and does not require this information. h) Go back to the Citrix XenApp window, click Continue to confirm that the installation was completed. NOTE: Reboot your computer if prompted to do so when the installation is complete. 18

i) Then click Log On when the Anonymous logon prompt appears. To complete your clinic s switchover to the new Netcare PLB: Once the Citrix Receiver has been installed on all computers that require access to the Netcare PLB, please email support@med-access.net and we will make the appropriate changes in order to facilitate the new connection. Alternatively you can contact Med Access Support by telephone: 1-888-781-5553 9 Troubleshooting and further information If you experience difficulties with the installation of the Citrix Receiver software further information may be found on the Citrix support site.
