The Water Wings Program is an employment readiness and educationupgrading program that assists marginalized, unemployed youth and adults with the process of obtaining employment. Through a step-bystep process, our tutors help individuals gain the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to achieve their career goals. The New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (DPETL) encounters many skilled trade apprenticeship students who cannot advance to the education they seek because they have not passed the pre-requisite Essential Skills Test. Students need to refresh or relearn math, science and English skills in order to pass the test. DPETL worked with Frontier College to develop the Apprenticeship Essential Skills Test Study Program where our tutors work one-to-one with learners in a non-traditional classroom setting, providing instruction tailored to their specific needs. Supporting Employers with Workplace Training and Immigrant Settlement in the North In Whitehorse, Frontier College partners with Northern Vision Development LP Hotels to train and mentor its employees many of whom are Aboriginal or newcomers to Canada during regular work hours in areas like workplace and government documentation, proofreading, business writing instruction, customer service, and health and safety training.
