See charming villages like Dinkelsbühl or nördlingen before we arrive at Augsburg. We continue to the Bavarian capital, Munich. An orientation tour, passing nymphenburg Castle and the olympic Grounds, will give you a first impression of this splendid city before we check-in at our hotel. In the afternoon we will leave for a walk which will take us at 05:00 pm to the Glockenspiel (carillon) at Marienplatz. The evening is free for own activities. D A Y 3 : T U e S D A Y Munich Garmisch-Partenkirchen ettal oberammergau Füssen (B) Depending on the weather conditions on this day, drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, situated at the foot of our highest mountain Zugspitze and one of the most important wintersport towns in Southern Germany, before going on to the Benedectine abbey of ettal and to oberammergau. The village is internationally famous for its Passion Play generally performed every ten years and for its numerous buildings with tromp l'oeil (Lueftlmalerei) painted façades. on the way to our today s destination, Füssen, we will make a short stop at the glorious rococo church in Wies. on sunny days, from there you can already see the fantastic Bavarian Alps. overnight at Luitpoldpark-Hotel o.s. Rothenburg D A Y 4 : W e D n e S D A Y Füssen Hohenschwangau Linderhof Rottenbuch Füssen (B) From Füssen it is only a short trip to Hohenschwangau and located on the rugged hill above the breathtaking fairytale castle of King Ludwig II, neuschwanstein! After the guided visit we continue to Linderhof on a scenic Alps tour through Austria. Linderhof is the only palace Mad King Ludwig lived to see completed. D A Y 5 : T H U R S D A Y Füssen Lindau Lake Constance (B) In the morning, after breakfast and check-out, we are heading to Lake Constance which we will arrive at its north shore, located between Germany, Switzerland and Austria. enjoy a walking tour of the beautiful village Lindau before we continue to Konstanz. The largest town at Lake Constance with a lot of historical interest is located at Germany's border with Switzerland and also the birthplace of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, the famous airship pioneer. D A Y 6 : F R I D A Y Lake Constance Black Forest Freiburg Heidelberg (B/ D) Today we enter the Black Forest, a region known not only for its delicious cake and the wooden cuckoo clocks but also for its spectacular landscapes. We will visit a clockmaker and, of course, you will have the possibility to taste the typical cake. enjoy a drive through the beautiful countryside towards the idyllic town of Freiburg. After a city tour we continue to Heidelberg, the oldest German university town where you will see the inner courtyard of the impressive castle, UneSCo World Heritage Site, and the wine cellar with its big barrel. In Ruedesheim we board a steamer for a Rhine river cruise, passing fascinating castles, ruins and the legendary Loreley Rock. D A Y 2 : M o n D A Y Weimar Dresden (B) After the breakfast drive to Dresden, the capital of the Free State of Saxony. on a city tour you will get to know one of the loveliest cities of central europe. Due to its mild climate, the baroque architecture and the renowned museums, Dresden is also called Florence of the elbe. See the Semper opera House, the baroque Zwinger, the Green Vault and, overall, the restored Frauenkirche. nowadays, it is hard to believe that after the bombing in 1945 the city centre was completely destroyed. See the exhibition hall and the demonstration workshops where all steps of the painting and glazing process are explained to you. Afterwards, we go on to Dresden, the capital of the Free State of Saxony. on a city tour you will get to know one of the loveliest cities of central europe. Due to its general mild climate, the baroque architecture and the renowned museums, Dresden is also called Florence of the elbe. See the main sights such as the Semper opera House, the baroque Zwinger and, overall, the restored Frauenkirche. nowadays, it is hard to believe that after the bombing in 1945 the city centre was completely destroyed. Leipzig D A Y 3 : F R I D A Y / T U e S D A Y Dresden Annaberg Schneeberg Plauen (B/ D) Today we are heading mostly along country roads, via Seiffen, a centre of the wooden toy industry, to two ancient miner-villages, Schneeberg and Annaberg. These towns are typical for the erzgebirge (ore Mountains) and actually home of the German tradition of woodcarving and Christmas pyramids. In former times, light represented by candles was an important symbol of life and safety for the miners, working in the dark tunnels. The woodcarvers combined their deep religious beliefs and used candles to illuminate the pyramids, decorated with saints and symbols of the holy night. The Christmas market in Annaberg is dating back to 1510. Schneeberg hosts St. Wolfgang s Church with an altar from 1539, carved by Lucas Cranach the elder. In the afternoon we continue towards Plauen, famous for its handcrafted lace. Plauen was founded in 1122 and since the 16th century has been an important place for cotton manufacturing. our farewell dinner will be served at our hotel. overnight at Hotel Dormero o.s. D A Y 3 : Trier Cologne (B) In the morning enjoy a city walk of Trier. The face of the city is impressively shaped by the Roman era. The most famous relic is the Porta nigra, the beautifully-preserved fortified gate from the great age but many other major stylistic epochs have also left behind their monuments. Quite justifiable, the city has been declared a treasure of world civilization by UneSCo. In addition to that, Trier is Germany's oldest wine-growing centre. Famous vineyard estates and celebrated wine producers are headquartered here. So it also pays to become acquainted with the subterranean realm of the Trier sommeliers! Leave for a scenic route along the Moselle with a wine tasting in one of the charming villages. Go on to Cologne where you will arrive in the early evening. D A Y 4 : Cologne (B) Today you will visit Cologne. Starting at the cathedral which is one of the largest gothic churches in europe the city tour will lead you through the small alleys of the old Town and splendid avenues to the river Rhine with its bridges and parks.
