1. Introduction As the digital roll out in the cinema industry progresses, cinema work flow migrates from standalone projection operation using the SMS, to installing digital projection across the entire theatre, centrally managed by Theatre Management Systems. The Sony Theatre Management System (TMS) is designed to provide efficient management of a cinema theatre s DCP file based projection operations from a single point. The TMS application software provides centralized ingest and efficient workflow management through the creation of the overall Schedule and Show programs for individual auditoriums as well as system monitoring to ensure smooth and continuous operation. The Sony Theatre Management System Lite (TMS Lite) is the new model of TMS for customers who have up to 5 screens at one theatre. Sony TMS Lite is an affordable product that provides customers easier operation and efficient workflow with all the essential TMS functionalities

3. Features and Benefits Key Functions of Sony TMS Series Key Benefits of Sony TMS Lite and TMS Low cost, but very useful The TMS user interface is intuitive. Part-time or full-time employees that work in the theatre can operate the system with little training thanks to the user-friendly GUI. The license Fee of TMS Lite is lower than TMS.TMS Lite can be installed on Windows 7 (supported versions apply) in addition to Windows Server 2008. Therefore the total cost of TMS Lite is lower than TMS. The core functionalities of TMS are available Easy to use Daily workload reduced Exhibitors screen a lot of advertising, trailers and feature content every week. TMS and TMS Lite can centrally manage scheduling, SPL creation and status monitoring. Exhibitors can also manage their contents easily. Employees can spend more time face to face with their customers.
4. Detailed Selling points for Exhibitors using TMS Lite/TMS Automatic DCP/ /KDM ingestion andd deleting using unique optimisation algorithm The TMS series can manage the ingestion and deletion of DCP/KDMM content automatically. TMS can manage to DCP deletion intelligently thankss to a unique optimized algorithm. There is a possibility to reduce employment cost by making use of these convenient functionalities. SPL Template and Style function f will greatly reduce repetitive creation of Schedules. To screen a lot of contents,, TMS users need to create a lot of Showw Play Listss (SPLs) in their daily workflow. An SPLL usually includes automation cues (like curtains, light control, and so on), which basically depend on the equipment used in each auditorium. By using the t SPL Template and Style functions, TMS users can easily create a number of SPL with those specific settingss without adding those same settings into SPL again and again. This function helps users too reduce the workload of their routine work. To Do List and notification are shown to alert and support operator s workflow. To Do List is very helpful function f forr TMS operators. Necessary tasks for an upcoming scheduled screening (for example, preparation of valid KDM, DCP ingestion etc.) are shown on To Do List area in Schedule tab in order of priority withoutt any manual entry. And they can automatically estimate the amount of the time it takes to ingest content to an auditorium. They also show alerts if the estimated completion time of the ingestion is after the start time of screening.
SPL rating check function prevents a screening accident from occurring. SPL rating check function is used to avoid an accidental screening of wrong rating content, the Sony TMS series automatically checks the rating of feature CPL and apply the same rating of feature CPL to SPL rating. Any additional content such as advertising and trailers will have the rating checked against the feature rating. Intermission functions of R320/R515 are available on TMS GUI. Sony SRX-R220/320/515 Digital Cinema Projection System have the Intermission function. This function is for exhibitors who have an intermission in a movie to show the advertisement content and sell food and drink. You can insert an intermission in the SPL. TMS Lite and TMS version 1.60.0 will support this function. A user can create an SPL with intermission on the TMS GUI.
5. Upgrading from TMS Lite to TMS It is possible to upgrade from TMS Lite to TMS to take advantage of the advanced functionalities that are available on TMS (manage up to 32 screens, POS Interface, SPL/Pack Import and Export, etc). Special offer when upgrading The TMS requires an STM-100I (Initial license) and an STM-100A (Annual License) on day 1, then an STM-100A license annually after that. TMS Lite requires only the one off cost STM-100L license. When upgrading from TMS Lite to TMS the first annual STM-100A license will be discounted, see below example. Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 TMS STM 100I STM 100A STM 100A STM 100A TMS Lite no Upgrade STM 100L N/A N/A Annual License continues every year after first year. Downgrading from TMS to TMS Lite It will not be possible to downgrade from TMS to TMS Lite.
7. TMS Lite Hardware Minimum Specification Server PC The server PC is the required device on which TMS will be installed and can be used. Client PC The client PC is an optional device which can be connected to the server PC to view the TMS GUI via an internet browser.
8. TMS Lite supported Cinema servers Only the above cinema server types and specific software version will be supported by TMS Lite.
9. TMS Lite hardware configuration examples The hardware configurations below are examples of what a dealer can provide for a TMS Lite solution. Sony will provide the TMS Lite software only in the Laptop/workstation NAS configuration. Sony can supply a fully configured TMS Lite Server hardware option and TMS rack (CHIPS) if the dealer would like to purchase/sell them. 9.1 Laptop/ Workstation + Network Attached Storage* (Solution to be supplied by dealer) TMS Lite can be installed on a Windows 7 Laptop that meets the minimum requirements for a server PC in section 7 (TMS Lite Hardware Minimum Specification). This workstation can be used to manage the storage on the projectors, create SPLs, scheduling and status monitoring. A NAS device is attached to provide central TMS storage. Content can be ingested on to the NAS Device and then distributed to the projectors via TMS Lite. Networking will be provided by Dealer or Exhibitor, Sony will provide only the software application. Recommended Models: Sony Vaio S (Intel i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 500GB+ HDD) http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vaio-s-series/tab/overview 8TB SnapServer DX1 Business NAS http://www.overlandstorage.com/products/network-attachedstorage/snapserver-dx1.aspx#top Sony Product Code: STM-100L (TMS Lite Software License) NB. Whilst TMS Lite can be run standalone on a laptop/ workstation it is recommended that the projection storage is not used as library storage for the TMS. The reason for this is that most projection servers are limited to a single transfer. A separate Small Business NAS storage is recommended to provide the optimum workflow with the TMS, such as multiple transfers and transfer during playout.
9.2 TMS Lite Server (TMS-LITE-SVR-8)* (see Sony Dealer Price List) A professional server specified by Sony with 8TB central storage (6TB usable, space for approximately 30 feature DCPs plus trailers and advertising), on board CRU port, and running Windows Server 2008 R2 for increased reliability beyond a consumer workstation or laptop for 24/7 operation. TMS Lite server is performance tested by Sony. Sony will provide the base configured server, monitor and keyboard and the TMS software application. Networking to be provided by Dealer or Exhibitor For exact specifications please see TMS-LITE-SVR-8 PIL. *The above hardware configuration will require a gigabit Ethernet network between the Server PC and the projection servers.
