Trentino Network Mission and Customers Trentino Network is a local public company fully owned by the Autonomous Province of Trento Network deployment and operation Deployment, management and operation of the public Telco infrastructure of the Autonomous Province of Trento Management of P.A. s Telco services Telco service provider for local public entities Wholesale Tlc services to Operators Public bodies Autonomous Province of Trento Healtcare system Municipalities University of Trento Research centers Educational institutions Civil Protection Wholesale network services provided at fair, transparent and non discriminatory conditions to the Telco Operators (to deploy broadband services to citiziens and private companies) Private Operators All the main national and local Operators and ISPs - 10 -

Edificio C Trentino broadband initiatives To turn Trentino into a land of innovation and enable all citizens and businesses to benefit from it, the Province of Trento has been implementing a medium-long term plan based on three steps: 1. Deployment of the territorial fiber optic backbone and fast actions to overcome the 1 st generation Digital Divide with the aim of providing urban areas with a connection speed of up to 2 Mbps Accesso Backhauling Backbone 2. Upgrade the copper network to provide 100% of the population with a connection speed of up to 20 Mbps and create more than 500 Free WiFi areas CPE RAME SOPRALZO UCR APPARATO FO DSLAM IP REMOTE FEEDER / FEEDER CENTRALE CAVO FO WDM / SDH CATALYST Rete OPM WDM / SDH GIGA /TERAROUTER VoD Server NAS Rete OPB Rete di dorsale Nodo Fibra Edificio Comunale Hyperlan Punto - Multipunto Internet 3. Deployment of a Next Generation Access Network, with a fiber optic link to residential users and companies (FTTH) - 11 -

Trentino Network optical fiber network Backbone Over 1.000 Km of optical fiber network 92 Sites hosting NW equipment - 12 -

Trentino Network GDE SET Synergies GDE and Trentino Network are exploiting synergies at multiple levels: 1. Trentino Network infrastructure monitored by SET Distribuzione (access control, physical security, energy, air conditioning, UPS) 2. SET Distribuzione sites progressively connected in broadband by Trentino Network 3. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) deployment leveraging low voltage power grid tubes and holes - 13 -

Trentino Network GDE SET Work conjunction Fiber optic deployment in conjunction with other civil works (e.g. public lightning) Sharing or interconnecting telco and electricity manholes Intercepting electrical distribution boards to enter buildings - 14 -

Future trends and synergies Why we envision even stronger collaborations in the future: 1. DSO (Set Distribuzione) power grid needs more real time bidirectional communication, which is not guaranteed by all existing networking solutions 2. For handling smart grid scenarios the power grid management need to rely on standard IP networks (even if with all required security and privacy) 3. For NGN deployment there is a strong need of reusing existing infrastructure o reduce cost and time to deploy
