Join our international network The School of Business is an attractive, international, and quality-oriented higher education institute. Our core competences are business development, service business and business intelligence, and we offer studies in business, tourism and hospitality and business information systems. Our Bachelor s and Master s programmes are taught in Finnish and English, and our research, development and innovation (RDI) focuses on promoting the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Our research lines are Competitiveness and Internationalisation, Internet Technology in Business Processes, Customer-oriented Services Management and Responsible and Sustainable Management. We have excellent relationship with industry and an extensive international network.
Achievements The first EPAS-accredited university of applied sciences in Finland In 2012, the degree programme in International Business received the esteemed international EPAS accreditation. Accreditation was awarded by EFDM, European Foundation for Management Development. The most efficient Business Administration education in Finland According to the indicators of the Ministry of Education and Culture, JAMK s Business Administration education is the most efficient in Finland. Most of our students graduate within the recommended period of study. The most popular International Business and Tourism Programmes in Finland JAMK s International Business and Tourism programmes are the most popular programmes in their field in Finland. The first Associate Diploma Programme in HR and Finance The School of Business was granted sole permission to pilot Associate Diplomas in Finland by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Diploma Programme in HR and Finance is conducted completely online and is aimed at working professionals. Extensive cooperation The School of Business has extensive global cooperation with the business community and a wide network of academic partners: 130 exchange agreements.
Bachelor s Degree Programmes Conducted in English International Business offers specialisations in High-Tech Management, Music and Media Management, Sport Business, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Cross-Cultural Management and Entrepreneurship. Various courses in English in the following programmes Business Administration offers specialisations in Finance, Human Resources Management, Fashion and Retailing, Sales, Sport Business, Financial Administration, Branding, Startup Entrepreneurship and Jurisprudence. Business Information Systems offers specialisations in the games industry, but the degree programme also facilitates other careers in the ICT field. Tourism and Service Business offers specialisations in tourism, user-oriented facilities and sustainable gastronomy. Master s Degree Programmes Conducted in English International Business Management focuses on strategic management and new business development in the global environment.
Various courses in English in the following programmes Entrepreneurship and Business Competence focuses on the themes of strategic management, strategic marketing management and financial management. Tourism and Hospitality Management offers studies in the development of service practices, service procurement and logistics, risk assessment and safety along with consumer expertise. A wide range of languages is offered to students such as Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, French, and Italian. Student Exchange and Study Abroad Programmes We have more than 100 international academic partners We have strong student exchange programmes with respected business schools on every continent. This network provides students with opportunities to pursue their professional goals. We have also established study-abroad programmes with our partners, such as Business Practices in Dynamic Silicon Valley, San Jose, California Doing Business in China, Hong Kong Doing Business in Latin America, Buenos Aires Summer School Creativity and Communication in Business Summer School of the School of Business has been designed to challenge and inspire students in their business studies. Each year, JAMK Summer School attracts around 200 students and lecturers from countries such as Argentina, Canada, China, Singapore, and the USA as well as students and experts from all around Europe.
Innovative Solutions in Learning Our school comprises a strong team of domestic and international professionals with comprehensive expertise and advanced skills in coaching and mentoring. New pedagogical solutions are explored and designed in collaboration with industry and public sector operators. Advanced technology is widely in use: online interactivity and gaming are used to customise education for individual needs. Innovative use of social media is applied throughout the studies. We have introduced various pedagogical methods emphasising students individual learning process and autonomy, such as problem-based learning, team pedagogy, experiential learning and blended learning. Our graduates have the up-to-date skills needed in their future careers, and the competences for solving complex problems in a constantly changing environment. The academic faculty is actively involved in research. Both faculty and staff take part in development projects, which are successfully linked with learning. These projects also provide an environment for active cooperation with the local business community. Multidimensional Business Cooperation The programme portfolio and learning outcomes of each specialisation of the School of Business are an outcome of continuous long-term strategic cooperation with the business community. Our focus areas reflect the business needs at the national and international levels. All curricula provide a solid foundation for business skills. Advisory Board The Advisory Board comprises distinguished business world representatives who provide their views and input on developing education and RDI work.
Business Networks In addition to curriculum design, our business cooperation covers research, recruitment, internship, thesis, marketing and guest lecturing. Cooperation projects often involve School of Business alumni. We co-operate widely with various organisations, SMEs and technology start-ups such as Nordea, the largest financial services group in Northern Europe Keski-Suomen Osuuspankki, Finland s largest financial services group, Member of OP-Pohjola Group Valtra, one of the leading tractor manufacturers VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Valmet, a leading global developer and supplier of services and technologies for the pulp, paper and energy industries Sodexo, an international service industry organisation AKK Sports, organiser of the international Neste Oil Rally Finland NaturVention, Finnish innovation combining nature and technology First Beat Technology, which produces software products for fitness and sports KESKO, a highly valued trading sector company Spirit of Entrepreneurship Students receive support in developing their own business ideas, starting an enterprise or developing an existing one. Students can also get a personal entrepreneurship coach. All students complete at least 5 ECTS credits of entrepreneurship studies. RDI Services for Business The research and development services of the School of Business are in active cooperation with businesses. Most recently, theses have been written on subjects such as digital business, responsibility and promoting the employment of international students.

Highlights Sport Business In the field of Sport Business, we offer Bachelor s, Master s, short-term and specialised study programmes. Our partners are universities in Finland and abroad, sport clubs and associations, SMEs, governmental institutions and the Research Institute of Olympic Sports in Finland. Students have participated in international research projects, such as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, South Africa, the 2011-2014 Neste Oil Rally Finland, the WRC FIA World Rally Championship, 2012, 2012 and 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, Finland and Sweden, and the 2014 Field Hockey World Championships, the Netherlands. High-Tech Management Students will gain skills to analyse high-tech industries, and to identify different stakeholders and their needs in high-tech business environments. Students will also acquire skills to deal with the specifics of managing high-technology companies and their business processes and activities. The learning is applied to practice through projects with high-tech companies. Studies consist of High-Tech Industry Dynamics, Marketing Strategies for High-Tech Companies, High-Tech Strategy Models, Managing Change and Innovation in a High- Tech Environment, Analysis and Implementation of High-Tech Projects. Sustainable Gastronomy Studies in Sustainable Gastronomy offer a unique forward-looking approach to the food business. Our students learn to understand food comprehensively and get an insight into creating innovative competitive services and products with an environmentally, socio-culturally and economically sustainable perspective. Through experiential learning methods, such as study trips and real-life projects, our students develop into the active change agents needed in the industry. Our focus is both local and global; we co-operate actively with the various stakeholders both in the industry and academia. Our students have contributed to organising large-scale events such as Nordic Business Forum, Helsinki Street Food Event and Restaurant Day. Among our central international partners are UNISG University of Gastronomic Sciences (Italy), Aalborg University (Denmark) and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China).
