Installing Valu Trac Display 1. To install Valu Trac Display for the first time download the software from the Valu Trac Website onto your computer by visiting http://www.valu trac.com/research/vtdisplay/ and pressing the button labelled. 2. When prompted with a box similar to that on the right select Save 3. Having saved VTDisplay_Setup to your computer perform the installation by opening your download folder. The Download folder is normally found in C:\Users\<user name>\downloads Within the downloads folder, right click on VTDisplay_Setup and select Run as administrator,asshownonthe right. If prompted with a security warning select Yes 4. When installation is complete a new icon is placed on your desktop. Set the permission by right clicking on the icon and select Properties, as shown on the right. Page 2
In the dialogue box that opens select the Compatibility tab. Click on the check box beside Run this program as an administrator. Click on the OK button to close 5. Valu Trac display is now installed and configured. Open by double clicking on theicononyourdesktop. IfpromptedwithasecuritywarningselectYes. Perform a program and data update by pressing the update button at the foot of the blue screen, shown right. The update is done using FTP and needs Port 3306 open for SQL authentication Close Valu Trac Display andreopen to apply all updates. Valu Trac Display is ready for use. The measurements can be updated at any time by using the update button. Page 3
Valu Trac Display Main Menu 1. Graph Menu options are provided for the four asset classes : Bonds, Equities inc. Sectors, Industries and Stocks, Currencies and Commodities. 2. Available charts for the current asset class In this case Bonds 3. Display of your current asset selections and your chosen period for display. 4. The Asset Class Graph Menus 1. There are 4 main asset classes available on Valu Trac Display, from which you can select a chart to view. To select an asset class menu click on the measurement button at the top of the screen. You can switch to any other asset class at anytime by pressing any of the Measurements buttons. 2. To view any graph from within your chosen asset menu such as A : Equity Intrinsic Value from the Equity menu, double click on the menu option or press A. If you have selected assets to display the chart will then be displayed, or if no asset selection has yet been made you will be presented with the Primary Selection screen. Page 5
The Asset Selection Screen 1. Before any graph can be displayed you need to select the asset(s) which will be shown on screen. Initially you must do this for your Primary Selection and if a relative graph is to be displayed or a comparison of assets are to be displayed, you will also have to create a Secondary Selection. 2. To view the asset selection screen press the F2 : Change Selection option at the bottom of the screen (shown right) or it will be automatically displayed shown you try and view a chart without having first made a selection. 1. Primary Selection Screen 2. Fast selections to allow rapid selection of frequently used groups of markets. 3. Lists your selections or portfolio you have currently made with an option to manually enter portfolio/user weights. 4. Individual assets which can be added to your selection by double clicking. 5. The title of your selection. Unless edited this will be automatically provided. 6. Any multiple selection, basket or portfolio can be weighted Equally, by Market Capitalisation or User weights (which applies your own actual weights which are displayed on the right of your selections). 7. Price related measurements can be displayed in any of the listed base currencies. The default is local currency. 8. Once you have made a selection you can save it for future use by selecting Save Selection. You may then subsequently Load it into either a primary or secondary section screen. Page 6
Selecting Assets for Display Adding an Asset to Your Basket/Portfolio To add an individual Equity market to your portfolio double click on it. In this case Australia has been added. The same process is used whether it is a Bond, Equity, Currency or Commodity which is to be added to your basket. Alternatively use one of the buttons to quick select a common region. Press Previous or More to cycle through the available regional selections. Adding a Stock to your Portfolio To lookup a specific stock press the Stock Lookup button which will open up the stock search window, From there you can type in the name, or text within the name, of a stock you wish to select and view the list of matching stock names. Results based on having searched for Intel are shown on the right. To add a matching stock to your basket/portfolio double click on its name. Repeat the process until all the stocks have been added then close the window or press Escape. Page 7
Adding a Sector/ Industry to your Portfolio To add a sector first highlight the home equity market then press the Right Arrow key on your keyboard which will drill down and expand that country into the available sectors, To then include that sector in your basket/portfolio double click the sector name. Repeat this process having highlighted a sector then pressing the Right Arrow key on your keyboard to drill down into available industries. Again to add an industry to your basket/portfolio double click the industry name. Finally repeat the process having highlighted an Industry to drill down to the stocks listed within that industry. To remove any drill down collapse the branch by clicking on it and then pressing the Left Arrow key. Removing an Asset from Your Basket/Portfolio To remove an item from your portfolio double click it or to empty your portfolio completely press the Clear button shown on the right. Entering User Weights To specify your own User weights for multiple selections select the F4:Weight option and enter your weights beside each asset. When you have finished close the window or press Escape and your weights will be visible on the main selection screen. Hint: Make sure the User Weights option is selected under F5 : Weight Selection in order to apply the weights you have just entered. Secondary Selections Adding items to or removing items from your Secondary basket or portfolio is identical to the process illustrated above for the Primary portfolio. Page 8
Viewing a Graph When you have created a basket or portfolio selection from the Primary or Secondary selection screens you can then view a chart from within the Graph Menu. Below is the result of selecting Both World Bonds Intrinsic Value Yield (MCap) Emerging Asia Pacific (MCap) Intrinsic Value Yield. and World Equity & You can cycle through the Intrinsic Value Measurements and their Leading and Lagging behavioural measurements by clicking on N:Next or B:Back. Hint : Pressing F1 on your keyboard will bring up a description from the glossary of the measurement on display. 1 Esc : Main Menu Returns to the Graph Selection Menu 2. Z : Zoom Alters the period of display of the chosen chart. 5. C : Copy copies the chart to the clipboard 3. L : Log Scale Where appropriate toggles the chart between arithmetic and log scale 4. P:Print Prints the displayed chart. 7. B;Back N:Next moves to previous or following graph from the main menu. 6. Primary shows a chart based on your primary selection, Relative is the Primary vs Secondary selection. Secondary shows a chart based on your secondary selection and Both shows your primary and secondary side by side Page 9
