FACULTY HIGHLIGHTS Jannick Rolland (Engineering) Spearheads the University s research in freeform optics a new technology that could transform 21st century optical science by developing a wider range of shapes for lenses and mirrors. Vasilii Petrenko (Earth Science) Winner of a David and Lucile Packard Foundation fellowship, totaling $875,000, to expand research of climate and environmental change.

APPLYING Admission to graduate study at the University of Rochester is based on a holistic, program-based review of your application materials. A common online application is used by all programs in Arts, Sciences, and Engineering. Most programs begin in September, and it is recommended that you apply by December of the preceding year. To apply to the programs listed please create an account at apply.grad.rocheseter.edu/apply General Application Material Requirements It is expected that all application materials (with the exception of official score reports) be scanned and uploaded to your online application. Statement of Purpose Transcripts Standardized test scores* Resume/CV Current letters of recommendation Program specific requirements** *The reporting of your GRE score is optional for the following programs: Biology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Photographic Preservation and Collections Management. **You are encouraged to visit the specific program website for additional information. The following programs require a writing sample: English, History, Literary Translation, Philosophy, Photographic Preservation and Collections Management, Visual and Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Political Science. Please note that if English is not your first language, we do require an official English Language Test, preferably TOEFL or IELTS. TUITION Cost, funding, and housing Graduate tuition and fees at the University of Rochester are comparable to highly selective US private universities.
