2011 WINTER HOLIDAY PROGRAMS Annual Children's Christmas Party Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center THE PARTY FOR 2011 WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, FROM 5 PM- 7 PM Open to children ages 3-12 who reside in the City of Rock Island, Illinois and whose families are in need during the holiday season. Program Description: ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY allows children and their parents to come together and enjoy the spirit of the holidays with treats and presents donated by fraternal groups, individuals, and area businesses. A parent or guardian must accompany all children. Program Description: HOLIDAY BASKETS provides Christmas baskets to residents in a targeted area of Davenport. The holiday basket includes a food basket as well as gifts for children ages 16 and under. Program Description: CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY BASKETS Program provides Christmas baskets for needy residents of Scott County. Delivery is from St. Anthony s Church parking lot to homes and recipient must be home to receive basket. There are no pick ups. Program Description: HOLIDAY CARNIVAL FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILY is a completely accessible Santa's workshop with activities for all the children including Santa's ice fishing pond, grandma's kitchen, craft rooms, and much more! Santa will be accessible to all children, including those who use sign language. Toys for Tots SIGN-UP DATES FOR 2011 ARE NOVEMBER 10 THROUGH DECEMBER 10 (NO SIGN-UP ON NOVEMBER 24-25 DUE TO THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY) SIGN-UP TIMES DURING THESE DATES ARE: THURSDAYS, FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS FROM 9 AM-5 PM Open to children ages 6 months to 12 years who reside in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas. Program Description: TOYS FOR TOTS is designed to help support local families in supplying presents to their children for Christmas. All toys and donations come from local families and businesses. Iowa / Illinois FOR DECEMBER FOOD PACKAGE, ORDER MUST BE PLACED BY MONDAY, DECEMBER 5 ORDER ONLINE OR AT HOST SITES PICKUP: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17 AT HOST SITES (*Note that criteria may differ at different host sites call for specific site date/time information) Open to all Iowa/Illinois residents. No income requirements. Place online orders at: http://www.shareiowa.com/index.php?page_id=4. Program Description: S.H.A.R.E. Iowa (Self Help and Resource Exchange) is a supplemental food program. S.H.A.R.E. is a community-based, self-help program, which builds community through service and the distribution of a monthly food package. Various food packages are available. For package price and 2 hours of volunteer service, participants can save up to 50% on a wide variety of food. The food packages include: frozen meats, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, grocery items, and a monthly newsletter that provides more information and recipes. Phone: 800-344-1107 (call for information on local host sites) Fees: Each package purchased requires the purchase price plus 2 hours of community service. Christmas package is $28; Best Value package (which varies monthly) is $25. Additional packages are available. Accepts cash, debit/credit, money order, food stamps, and paypal (online).
