Guide to the Online Learning Support (OLS) site This guide introduces key features of the OLS site. By logging onto the OLS you will be able to: access technical help for your Microsoft or Mac computer find out how to purchase software at student rates find useful links and study tips update your contact details access your learning resources check your unit and course progress access your assignments and submit them online contact your teaching section access your TAFE correspondence and more... To access the OLS site, go to the OTEN Home page www.oten.edu.au. In the Online Services box, select Online Learning Support site. and click on Login button. Important: Take a moment to add the OLS Login page to your Favourites. To log in: 1. enter your TAFE NSW Student Portal (SPortal) username. 2. then press the TAB key. 3. enter your password. 4. click on the Login button. If you have forgotten your password, select If you continue to have problems logging in, check your computer meets technical requirements. Page 1 of 5

Student Guide and all you need to know about studying by distance through OTEN. Study skills online to develop your independent learning skills on the OTEN Study Skills website which has study tips and other learning resources. TAFE NSW Student Association which you can join (for a fee) to enable you to access the Association at your local TAFE NSW college. Now you are ready to explore My Courses & Units tab: My Course progress shows your enrolled and completed units. Watch the short video Studying at OTEN. My Details enables you to update your details such as address, phone and email and gives you the opportunity to write an introduction to your teachers and update the information as regularly as needed. My Correspondence has online copies of letters and emails from TAFE Course information varies depending on the course. It may include all or some of the following: a course overview updates resources for your course any practical sessions contact a teacher details and online enquiry form which will automatically include your name, student number and course number to make it easy for you to request assistance or information about your course. It may include all or some of the following: a unit overview updates learning resources for the particular unit you are looking at contact a teacher details and online enquiry form which will automatically include your name, student number and unit number to make it easy for you to request assistance or information about the unit you are currently looking at. practical sessions assessment information interact with teachers and students Quicklinks takes you to the Student Guide, Student-E-Services or DEC SPortal News is regularly updated so check this box each time you log in for information such as applying to sit exams, re-enrolling, and more.... Under My Course progress you can keep track of your enrolled and completed units. In the example below, the student is enrolled in three courses. If you are enrolled in more than one course, simply click on the tab for the course you wish to view. You can see: the unit name the status of the unit, ie whether you are enrolled or have completed it the number of assignments required the number of assignments submitted From My Course Progress, click on a unit name to access the Learning Resources page for this unit. To switch to a different unit, click on the drop down list to the right of the Select a unit box. Page 4 of 5
To access your assessment-related content for the unit, click on the Assessment Information tab. At the Assessment information page, you may be able to: download the assessment guide for your unit to find out how you will be assessed read/download assessment instructions find out about particular resources that may be required read/download assessment tips from your teachers check your unit progress, ie the submission date if they have been marked download assignment question papers submit your completed assignments online complete an online test if appropriate for the unit you are studying By clicking on other tabs to the left of Assessment information, you may be able to: view the latest updates about the unit find out about the learning resources, eg, delivered online, via CD or print find out how to contact a teacher by telephone or email find out about practical sessions if appropriate to the unit interact with your teacher and other students via blogs, wikis, etc Please note all these tabs may not be available for each unit. Before you attempt your first assignment, refer to Assessment Guidelines tab for advice about: writing assignments presenting and submitting assignments plagiarism and referencing downloading past HSC exam papers and notes applying to sit tests and exams To protect your privacy, click the Log out button to close your OLS session.
