The program helped at-risk girls turn their lives around, to become involved in educational enrichment and implementation of Phillip Roy Social Skills. This was a collaborative project through Metropolitan Oasis Center, CDC, which is a faith based organization. Girls Involved for their Success (GIFTS) Grant Adolescent pregnancy prevention education grant funded through Indiana Department of Health. A cooperative effort between Metropolitan Oasis Center, CDC, Inc., and Pulaski School. I served as Co-Director and Clinical Nurse Specialist. I requested the program/grant because of many naïve sexually and socially vulnerable young women at the school. Research Interest and development: Teaching effectiveness with use of the Herman Simulator in the child health/pediatric setting. Pamela Brandy Webb 6 VIII. Summary As a long standing member of the Prairie View A&M University College of nursing faculty, I demonstrate genuine commitment and support in my professional role as a Nurse Educator. My dedication is evident in teaching effectiveness, scholarship and service. I take pride in being a contributing team member in the instruction of students in Semester 3, Family Health Nursing and Semester 5, Comprehensive Nursing Process HESI Review. I was selected by ATI to participate in the National ATI Nurse s Touch Item Writing Workshop February 2014. As a result of this training, I have become an effective test writer and more effective in item analysis. Through the NLN Foundation for Nursing Education, I was encouraged to apply for the NLN Scholarly Writing Retreat of 2013. Although, I was not a finalist, it was an outstanding learning opportunity to further develop simulation technology as en effectual pedagogy. During the Spring 2011, our Semester 3 Team successfully published, Teaching Patient Safety in Simulated Learning Experiences Nurse Educator- May/June 2011. Dr. Blake, Dr. Jenkins and I were contributors & reviewers for Ricci & Kyle s Maternity and Pediatric Nursing Textbook, 2013, which is the current required textbook utilized in Family Health Nursing. I am committed to continue to model the Core Competencies of Nurse Educators and thus actively fulfill the mission and philosophy of Prairie View A&M University College of Nursing.
