International Ultrasound Course Organised by the Dept. of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Ghent University Hospital November 15-18, 2016 Ghent - Belgium Programme Under the patronage of the Royal Belgian Society of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine 1

Goal of the International Ultrasound Course Beginners Course After having completed the beginners course, the participants should be able to perform routine musculoskeletal ultrasound themselves and recognize common pathology in PRM and sports medicine. An experienced sonographer first demonstrates the examination of the normal joint. Participants then perform ultrasound themselves under the supervision of experienced teachers. Each session is concluded by a lecture on common pathology of the joint and periarticular soft tissues. The first day will be devoted to the examination of shoulder (morning) and elbow (afternoon). Hip and knee (day 2), wrist and hand (day 3), ankle and foot (day 4) will be addressed in the same way. Lectures will be dedicated to interventional US, visualisation of nerves. For details see pages 4-6. Satellite Courses On Wednesday, a workshop on nerve visualization of the upper limb (median nerve/ ulnar nerve / radial nerve) is organised. On Thursday, a workshop on US-guided botulin toxin infiltrations is scheduled. On Friday 2 workshops are scheduled, one on US-guided infiltration techniques and one on platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) infiltrations. After having completed these workshops, the participants should be able to start using US as a tool for intramuscular, intra-articular infiltrations and PRP infiltrations. For details see pages 7-8.
