WHAT CAN Retrak Charity @Retrak_Charity Retrak, Metropolitan House, Station Road, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, SK8 7AZ, UK Telephone: +44 (0)161 485 6685 Email: mailbox@retrak.org Web: www.retrak.org Registered charity number 1122799. Registered company number 6424507 YOU SEE Retrak Strategy 2015-17

OUR VISION OUR MISSION A world where no child is forced to live on the street. Retrak works to transform highly vulnerable children's lives; preserve families; empower communities and give each of them a voice. We put children at the very heart of everything we do and will be fearless and tenacious in defending and promoting their rights.

OUR VISION A world where no child is forced to live on the street. OUR VALUES Retrak s values of boldness, excellence, innovation and respect are underpinned by our Christian faith through which we embrace all people, valuing their diversity and difference so that none are excluded, forgotten or ignored. Retrak values express what Retrak believes in and how Retrak seeks to behave. There is no hierarchy: they are each of equal importance. They drive both Retrak and Retrak staff. They are universally applicable within Retrak. INNOVATION in a world where street children are often ignored or unseen, we invest in innovative opportunities and use research and technological expertise creatively to increase their visibility and voice. BOLDNESS believing that every single child matters, we will question, speak out and act boldly on behalf of street children so that real and lasting change becomes their reality. RESPECT we are committed to transparent, fair, unbiased and mutually respectful relations with all of our stakeholders. EXCELLENCE we hold ourselves accountable for the delivery of high quality, equitable services, which adapt to the unique needs of each child, family and community. OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES 1 To provide street children with a safe and real alternative to life on the street based on the child rights approach. AIMS IMPACT 1. Enable contact through increased outreach activities and to raise children s awareness of their rights and responsibilities. Every child that Retrak has contact with has the opportunity to choose a real alternative to life on the street. 2. Significantly invest in alternative childcare options including helping children to return home (reintegration), foster care, kinship care and de-institutionalisation to offer more places, including respite and emergency placements, to create safe family environments. 3. Increase access to creative, innovative, high quality and sustainable services that meet the unique needs of street children to ensure they are equipped with the education, economic and emotional skills for their future. Every child that Retrak has contact with has an increased awareness of their rights and responsibility.

OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES 2 To position Retrak as a development organisation that promotes family preservation and works with communities to prevent highly vulnerable children coming to the street. AIMS 1. Strengthen families emotionally and economically so they are equipped with the skills and means to care for and affirm their children therefore preventing them from turning to the streets. 2. Help communities become the first and last line of care and defence in child protection and equipping carers with the essential skills to keep families together. 3. Adopt innovative ways of sharing understanding about the reasons why children migrate to the street, their rights, aspirations and achievements to change attitudes towards street children. 4. Build a network of sustainable partnerships to create an environment where no child is forced to live on the street. 5. Increase participation in networks and alliances globally so that we can listen and consult and have a cogent voice to speak up on behalf of street children. IMPACT A significant reduction in the numbers of highly vulnerable children coming to the streets from the areas where Retrak is working. OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES 3 To inform Retrak s research, advocacy and collaboration by being better at listening and engaging children s voices in order that we work to change policy and practice in their favour. AIMS IMPACT 1. Create a global research centre around street children issues that reflects their priorities and voice. The voice of street children is increasingly heard in public fora, and the children s priorities become drivers for policy decisions that affect excluded and highly vulnerable children. 2. Engage with the public, civil society, opinion formers and policy makers to make changes that positively affect children. 3. Influence public policy and practice in the area of youth justice to create a more fair and just system for children.

OUR RESOURCES We recognise that Retrak alone is not able to provide all street and highly vulnerable children with the tools and solutions to help them achieve their hopes and aspirations. Retrak needs partners in order to do that. We also recognize that Retrak is entirely dependent on the passion and commitment of our staff, trustees, carers, volunteers, supporters, partners and funding bodies. If you want to find out more about Retrak and how you can get involved then please visit our website: www.retrak.org We could not do what we do without that loyalty and nor could we do what we do without such reliable generosity.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP We do everything we can to help street children. How can you help? DONATE You can make become a regular giver to Retrak and stay in touch with all of our news, or make a one- off donation. Regular gifts allow us to plan for the future and provide futures for the children we help. 8 a month can shelter one child. 10 can buy a pair of school shoes for a child 25 can pay school fees for a month and 62 can trace one family of a child living on the street. LEGACIES To leave a future for a child is a very special legacy. For more information about leaving a gift in your will to Retrak, please contact us on 0161 485 6685. Or, you could find yourself sleeping out on the streets, living on 1 a day or walking on fire. To find out more visit our website or call us on 0161 485 6685. Also, if you have an idea for a fantastic event, we d love to hear from you. VOLUNTEER Give your time to transform lives. Could you hold your own event? Get some friends together to fundraise?
