Newly employed teachers may receive credit for a maximum of ten (10) years on the salary schedule. The ten (10) years may be prior teaching experience or a combination of prior teaching experience and military service. A maximum of two (2) years service credit may be given for military service upon presentation of an honorable discharge document (DD214) at time of hire. A maximum of four (4) years salary service credit may be given for teaching/work experience gained prior to the ten (10) years immediately preceding employment. Up to four (4) years of experience credit will be deducted from the total years experience of T & I teachers not holding a Bachelor s Degree. Prior experience will be allowed for elementary, secondary, or college teaching recognized by Kentucky state statutes. A minimum of an equivalent of one hundred forty (140) days taught in any one school year is required for allowance of one (1) year s experience credit. In no event shall a teacher be allowed experience credit above the maximum allowed in any rank of the salary schedule.
