NOTE: Management agents (Ethernet networking, FCoE, and iscsi) to use for remote access to the adapters can be installed using Windows or Linux SuperInstallers. These SuperInstallers can be found on the download section for Windows/Linux OSs for your specific adapter at http://driverdownloads.qlogic.com. The management agents are not included in the QConvergeConsole package that you download from the QLogic downloads page. 5.2 Starting QConvergeConsole Please refer to the QConvergeConsole User's Guide for detailed information on starting QConvergeConsole. You can download a copy of this document from the driver download page for your adapter at QLogic's Driver Downloads/Documentation page (http://driverdownloads.qlogic.com). 6. Additional Notes The following sections provide additional information according to operating system: * 6.1 General (Applies to All Operating Systems) * 6.2 Windows * 6.3 Linux 6.1 General (Applies to All Operating Systems) 6.1.1 Manually Mapping the Host Name to IP QConvergeConsole does not allow connecting to the same host more than once; doing so causes issues with policies and wastes system

resources. Consequently, all host IP addresses must resolve to a host name to allow the connection to complete. If DNS is not used, you must edit the local host file on the system where you are running QConvergeConsole to manually map the host name to the static IP address. The following shows the name and location of the host file for each OS: * Windows: <install drive>:windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts * Linux, Solaris SPARC and Solaris x86: /etc/hosts 6.1.2 Understanding the Displayed Hard Drive Size Under LUN Information Two different measurement formats are used when displaying the hard drive size: decimal (GB) and binary (GB). Both Linux and Windows show the correct number using their numeric format: * Windows uses binary (numbers that are a power of 2) * Linux uses decimal (numbers that are a power of 10) For example: 2^10 is 1,024. The closest decimal number is 10^3 or 1,000. 2^20 is 1,048,576. The closest decimal number is 10^6 or 1,000,000. 2^30 is 1,073,741,824. The closest decimal number is 10^9 or 1,000,000,000. 6.1.3 Online update requirement QCC provides utility to update application to latest version. This utility requires Domain Name Service server running on the same host that Tomcat server is running. 6.2 Windows 6.2.1 ConfigRequired Parameter None 6.3 Linux 6.3.1 Running QConvergeConsole and Connecting to a Remote Red Hat Linux Machine

When running QConvergeConsole and connecting to a remote Red Hat Linux machine, you must modify the /etc/hosts files on the two machines to allow asynchronous notifications from the agent to QConvergeConsole to operate properly. To resolve this issue, create a new entry with the host IP address assigned to ethx. Modify the existing entry by moving the hostname from the localhost line to the newly created line. For example: Initial: 127.0.0.1 localhost runner.domain.com Modified: 127.0.0.1 localhost 10.0.0.1 runner.domain.com 6.3.2 Secure Portmapper For Linux 7.x and Advanced Server 2.1, QConvergeConsole includes a new secure portmapper. Add the statement "portmap:all" to the /etc/hosts.allow file for remote communication to work properly between the graphical user interface and agents. 6.3.3 QConvergeConsole Password The default QConvergeConsole password is "config". Make sure to change this password after installation to ensure security is not compromised. To change the current QConvergeConsole password, you must install the shadow password option on your Linux machine. For example, the following steps install the etc/shadow file on a Linux 7.2 machine: 1. Install shadow-utils rpm package from <Linux 7.2 CD-1>: /Red Hat/RPMS/shadow-utils-20000902-4.i386.rpm 2. Go to the /etc file, and then type the pwconv command to convert the passwords to shadow password format. 6.3.4 IA32 QConvergeConsole Installer To run the IA32 QConvergeConsole installer under Linux x86_64 (Intel 64), you must install the IA32 X11 libraries. These libraries are included in the xorg-x11-libs-<version>.el rpm. If the libraries are missing, the following exception displays:

java.lang.unsatisfiedlinkerror: /tmp/install.dir.4191/linux/resource/jre/lib/i386/xawt/libmawt.so: libxext. o.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory 6.3.5 QConvergeConsole Installer on Red Hat 5 To run the QConvergeConsole installer on a Red Hat 5 Linux machine when using the default installation, you must install the following rpms: * compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61.<arch>.rpm * libxp-1.0.0-8.<arch>.rpm NOTES: * On x86_64 machines, load 32-bit libs * On ppc64 Linux machines, load both ppc64/ppc rpms 7. Known Issues and Workarounds 7.1 Issue: Internet Explorer 8.0 sometimes displays the error message "A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. Workaround: Follow the procedures described in the article located at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500. 7.2 Issue: The administrator/admin enabled account password must not be blank when changing the QConvergeConsole utility password. On Windows platform, the inbox driver version 9.1.4.6 is installed automatically for adapter QMH2572. QCC driver update feature does not support updating from this Windows inbox driver version 9.1.4.6. Use Device Manager to update this inbox driver to version 9.1.9.45 or higher. 7.16 Email address rejected When using the QCC email feature, there might be issue with some email servers due to the From email address is fixed to: QConvergeConsole.Application@qlogic.com and cannot be changed. To avoid this issue, please add this fixed email address in spam exclusion list. 7.17 Browser refresh requirement When updating QConvergeConsole from version to version, please make sure the browser cache is clear and the QConvergeConsole URL is reloaded. Instructions for clearing cache of a specific version of browser are described in the following link: http://kb.iu.edu/data/ahic.html 7.18 Internet Explorer 9 requirement When using IP address to open QCC on Internet Explorer version 9, the IP address must be added to the list of Local intranet zone. This is an IE 9 requirement due to security reason. To add a site to the Local intranet zone, do the following steps: a. Open the site in Internet Explorer. b. Click File and point to Add this site to. c. Click Local intranet zone. d. Click Add in the Local intranet dialog box. e. Click Close 7.19 Host refresh requirement Refreshing host is required after making a LUN change. 7.20 CNA Flash update limitation When running using QCC GUI, it is required to have only one NIC port active or link is up per subnet. If there are more than 1 NIC port on the same subnet they should be using different VLANs. If the ports are on the same subnet and/or the same VLAN, you can temporarily disable the port driver to reduce the number of active NIC ports to 1 prior to running QCC. 7.21 Driver uninstallation requirement

It is required that QCC application and agents must be stopped prior to disable or unload or uninstall driver. 7.22 Internet Explorer version 10 When using Internet Explorer browser version 10 to open QConvergeConsole, the browser may not recognize QConvergeConsole web page. QConvergeConsole is not displayed. When this situation occurs, you will see the Compatibility View button on the Address bar. please make sure the IP address and/or "localhost" are added to the list of Trusted Sites. 7.28 Driver Update Wizard file selection requirement When using Driver Update Wizard, driver file selection must be done for each host which appears in the list of selected host(s). Hosts are listed by IP address or by name or by the term "localhost". A selected driver file for a selected host will be used in the update process on all applicable adapter(s) installed in that specific selected host. If there are more than one type of adapters installed in a host, there must be more than one driver file selected for use in the update process. 7.29 Link status after running Ext LB test If HBA parameters were set to use standard Connection option and value "Auto" for Data Rate then when inserting a LB connect, the link will still show as down. When the Connection Option is set as Loop Only and Data Rate is set to 8G and the LED/link is up as expected on Hilda FC. 7.30 BPS value not incremented on VP for BFS setup On Linux machine running RHEL 5.x or SLES 10.x with BFS setup, when run IO on LUN attached to virtual port, the BPS value does not get updated. This problem is fixed in RHEL 6.x and SLES 11.x. 7.31 Smart Screen Filter feature on Windows platform Whenever you execute a file that you have downloaded from the Internet, it is first checked by SmartScreen Filter against a database. Files that cannot be identified are blocked automatically, and a warning is displayed instead. The only two options on the screen are the highlighted OK button, and a more info link that is nearly as distinguishable from the background. A click on OK closes the message and blocks the executable from being started. If you want to start the program, you need to click on More Info. You can disable SmartScreen Filter in the Windows Control Panel. Use Windows-Pause to bring it up, and click on Control Panel in the address bar afterwards. Select System and Security and then Action Center afterwards. Select Change SmartScreen Settings on the left. This opens a menu where you can turn Windows SmartScreen off. 7.32 Retrieving firmware dump file If firmware dump data is available and is stored in a file system, the dump data can be retrieved using Utilities tab for the selected adapter.
