Reading Decoding

Domain: Reading Decoding State : 1.A. Will utilize phonetic rules to decode unfamiliar words with % accuracy. Will apply beginning, middle and ending consonant sounds to decode an unfamiliar word. Will distinguish between long and short vowel sound to decode unfamiliar words. Will apply the silent e rule to decode unknown words. Will beginning and ending consonant blends (clusters) to decode new words. Will use welded wounds to decode unknown words. Will use knowledge of root words, prefixes and suffixes to decode unknown words. Will demonstrate knowledge of word chunks (word families) when decoding words. Will recognize and apply rhyming word patterns to decode new words. Will produce the appropriate r controlled vowel sounds when decoding unfamiliar words. Will identify the correct sound made by vowel combinations to decode new words. Will apply consonant diagraph sounds to decode unknown words.
