Our efforts Collaborative tie- ups with major industrial Houses Hyundai training Academy at ITI, Guwahati State of Art Workshops with TATA Motors at ITI, Tinsuka and Nagaon Beauty & Wellness Centre with VLCC with ITI for Women, Guwahati Introduction of new courses on automobile with M/s Toyota Motors at ITI Nalbari State of art fabrication Workshop at ITI Jorhat with NRL and India Welding Society Tie- up with major Corporate NEEPCO, Power Grid, JAL Board, HPC, Oil India for training in specialized modules as per need for industry. All the major industrial houses absorb the passed out trainees every year in their workshops and authorized service centres
Constraints As per National Target our State target has been fixed at 2.58 lakhs for FY 2014-15 60% of the target to be covered by the various Govt. departments and 40% by the Labour & Employment Department Target difficult to be achieved even after having 2 shifts in ITIs and running modular employable courses in ITIs and private registered raining providers. Limited infrastructure availability and skill training capacities in private sector Shortage of adequate number of trainers Funding of training cost
Strategy Need for Single Umbrella Organization to bring about successful convergence of all Govt. departments and other stake holders in skill development Finalisation of setting up of a comprehensive body known as the Assam Skill Development Mission to be chaired by the Hon ble Chief Minister, Assam Draft proposal already vetted by NSDA, awaiting Govt. approval The Assam Skill Development Mission will prepare a skill training plan to increase the capacity and capability of the system to deliver quality skill training leading to meaningful employment
To drive large scale skill development programme through long term contracts to training providerss to set up training capacities in the state is to be initiated Necessity to engage reputed Govt. owned supported training provider to enter into partnership with the Govt. for facilitating rapid ramp up of training Budgetary provision of 36.00 crores for Assam Skill Development Mission for F/Y, 2014-15 Need to develop training modules and facilities in sectors of oil/tea/traditional handicrafts Encouraging training in retail hospitality and tourism related sectors Alternative employment opportunities to cater to the training needs of tea tribe/minorities/construction workers and scavengers etc.
